INCORRECT TITLE and DESCRIPTION - this is NOT Automatic!

IT IS NOT AUTOMATIC. Amazon needs to change the title and details of this product immediately. It does NOT automatically let two computers print to the same printer. You have to manually switch the software on both computers to allow it to print. If you don't then the print job gets an error and stays in the print queue. It took about 10 minutes for the other computer to be able to print after having printed from the first computer. I should have tested it first before wasting my time running all the cables behind the walls and behind desks. Very disappointed!

Doesn't work !!! - Update

Just purchased and installed -per instructions - this and as many, many others have said
IT DOES NOT WORK. Just lets one computer work with printer. Green light only comes on
for one device. If I change cords, the other device works, but it will not automatically change and
will NOT recognize the printer on the other device. Very unhappy and plan on returning to Amazon.

Update - Finally got to work - Customer Support at IOGear was HORRIBLE !! Short, curt and not helpful
at all - finally had a friend help who has one and he got it to work by reinstalling it on both computers
and it finally worked very well - therefore product seems good, but be ware of trying to get help.

Will NEVER purchase a product from them again and recommend others who are not computer"savvy" to look
elsewhere for products.

Buyer beware!

They don't tell you that this switch does not work for all systems. One of my PC's has vista for business. Made several calls and spent much time on the phone with IOGEAR (different answers each time). Was finally told to make a change deep within the software, so I called microsoft and they wanted $85 to help me. I called IOGEAR, explained that I was doing my best to make their switch work, but could not do so without spending more money, and asked if I could trade in the auto-switch for a manual switch. Was told by a woman "sorry, it's past the 30 day limit". That's what I got for listening to them tell me I could get it to work. This is is not a quality company. Suggest you get in writing that the switch will work for your systems prior to buying. If you have an issue, don't expect coherent service.

Works just as intended supporting two computers with one printer, but there is a glitch

I saw mostly good reviews and ordered it, hoping that poor reviews involved operator error. I followed the directions for installing the drivers on two machines - an ASUS notebook running Windows 7 (64 bit) and an HP notebook running Vista. I also went to the IOGEAR website and updated the drivers (from V1.0 to V1.1). The auto-switching worked perfectly, just as advertised. I had one glitch, which involved the notebook running Windows 7. Although the device would switch to this computer, the printer sent a printing error and wouldn't print from that machine. I went through the IOGEAR troubleshooting checklist to make sure I had done everything correctly (including making sure that the printer drivers were installed on both machines and the printer operated with a direct connection on both machines). When I still got the printing error message, I used the IOGEAR support website and wrote an email, sharing complete info on the hardware involved and the problem. Within two hours (or less) I got an response saying: "On the Windows 7 computer go to Devices and Printers, right click on the printer icon and Printer Properties (not just Properties) then go to the Ports tab. Under the list of all the printers look for a check box labeled Enable Bi-Directional Support, if that box can be uncheck do so then apply the change to see if that helps." That instantly fixed the problem. Now it switches automatically AND prints off both notebooks. LOVE IT!

UPDATE: April 9th
I've just changed my rating to four stars. Everything I said before is true, BUT...my scanner on my HPL7590 All-in-one has errors and won't work. I tried just uninstalling the GUB211, but unfortunately that didn't fix the problem. I had to completely uninstall my printer too, and reinstall. I want scanner capability more than I need the ability to switch between PCs, so I'll just do it the old fashioned way and swap the USB cable between PC's instead of using a switch.

Was a little intimidated because I am not very computer savvy but installation and setup was a breeze. Made sure I read direction well. Couldn't use the mini cd provided so downloaded from website. Set icon to our desired printer on each computer and tried her out. Both computers printed and I am one happy lady! No more switching cord from printer to printer.

I am a business manager. I bought this after researching and looking at reviews. I wanted to allow two computers to use the same printer. The order came quickly. But soon after installing it, my staff removed it. It would not switch to the 2nd computer and started causing problems. I tried reinstalling is several times and it would only print from one computer or at times neither computer. I was also not able to either computer to access scanning on my printer. I am very busy and don't have time to mess with equipment that does not work. By the time I had tried and retried to fix it. I was not able to return or refund. I would not reorder or recommend it if you want a reliable splicer.

We could not get this to work to connect 2 computers to a single printer. Eventually I found a used printer and now have 2 printers in the same room - each connected to a computer (I need one for printing checks and have a newer computer that I use for everything else). I have an assistant who helps with Quickbooks, so I need the 2nd computer to have a printer so we don't keep installing backup copies of that software. Too bad this did not work.
