I have been a PC gamer but decided I wanted to switch to consoles to avoid all the hacking that seems to be bad in some games on PC and I wanted to play some PS4 exclusives like Horizon. So I picked up a PS4 and saw something about using my mouse and keyboard on it. I looked into it and I wound up looking at the Keymander as a way to dip my toe in with a middle of the road price. I was hesitant to get this product given the reviews. I even cancelled an order then slept on it then went ahead and placed the order. Even when I got it, I was thinking "Maybe I should just return it and just learn to use the controller well." Well I went through with it.

For all of the complaints about it being hard to set up, I did find the lack of good instructions a bit off putting but I had researched this. I watched the video and I was ready to go. I plugged it in to the PS4 and PC with the mini-USB cables provided but they short you one for the power for the setup I wanted but I had 1 ready for the power port on the Keymander. The setup keeps my mouse and keyboard plugged in to my PC and I have a single monitor with 2 inputs to where I can switch back and forth between the PC and PS4.

Once connected; I downloaded the software, profiles, and firmware and extracted them to a folder of my chosing. I then ran the software and then used that to run the firmware update and it came back and said the firmware I downloaded was not newer than what was already there, so I skipped it. From there, I just set the PS4 as my default profile on the Keymander software and deleted the rest that I do not intend to use it. So far I have not used the profiles and I do not think I will. I edited the default control map to my liking to fit my keyboard (a cheap light up Perrix that I use that has a touchpad I got for quieter keys than my mechanical some time ago) and my Razer Naga. All worked great! I was really worried about not having my handy Naga at my side but its working great.

Once I had the keys mapped I fired up Planetside 2 on the PS4 and loaded in the first time I ever played it. From there, I kind of ignored the youtube video and adjusted the software for the KeyMander for sensitivity to work with what is default for Planetside for my tastes. Couple of tweaks to make the X axis a bit faster than the Y and increase both a bit and I was good to go right out of the box. Of course; theres still a matter of me not playing PS2 before still being a noob but it seemed fine to me, like I was using a mouse and keyboard on a PC but then, I am generally a lower sensitivity guy with that stuff anyway so maybe it varies for those who an just snap to their target in a hurry.

My only complaints so far is; you cannot use your headset through your controller with this setup. You either use a 2nd controller with party chat or use a USB headset. Its not huge but I liked the analog set I have.

(Tested and presently used on PS4). Tested on Bf1, bf4, rainbow six siege, titanfall 2 and ark survival so far. I am originally a pc gamer who has always had trouble with a game pad, this is about the closest thing you can get to the familiarity of a mouse and keyboard on a console. I ended up going with the KeyMander over the competition solely based on price and a few reviews. It's affordable compared to its counter parts. I was skeptical about the compatibility of my mouse/keyboard combo but I haven't had a major problem yet. I've used a basic gaming USB keyboard and gaming mouse that work well. The software is easy to install, however the software itself can be difficult to use, MAKE SURE YOU READ THE MANUAL! I 100% do not recommend tuning without using a computer. I Used a laptop in my living room where I also have my PS4. It's easy to just plug into both your console and your laptop at the same time. The software allows you to jump back and forth from adjusting to playing/testing with the press of F12. There is a way to program your settings with just using your console controller while the keymander is plugged in but it's garbage for finding dead zones, nor does it save your settings. People complain of some mouse lag, I will say that it is there, but you can barely recognize it in my opinion and hasn't had a major effect on gameplay.

Pros: works as intended keyboard and mouse. Keys are easily programmed.
It's less expensive then it's counterpart.
Can rip some sweet fps kills, and it is the closest thing to playing on a desktop that you can get. The custom profile programming is great for each individual game and can be switched instantaneously using the f-keys. Makes sniping fantastic.

Although I overall recommend the product, it's not perfect.
I first had trouble programming the dead zones with the software and the sensitivity seemed out of whack. I have a fairly high dpi mouse that I use. The manual for the keymander states to put the in game sensitivity all the way maxed out, however, I put it about half way and fine tuned which seemed to work better. With the sensitivity all the way maxed out in game I was having trouble finding the look speed I liked. Secondly, if the dead zones aren't properly programmed in the keymander software settings, when aiming it will glitch around and will not feel fluid. Make sure when programming dead zones in the keymander software, to adjust it until your in game character aim starts to barely move and save it. Another issue is that it seems the extra mouse buttons I have are not programmable or don't seem to work with the software.

Cons: can be frustrating to program and takes some time to set up the software how you like it. It's not perfect. Due to the keymander working through controller emulation, it will never be the full mouse and keyboard experience based solely on the fact that there are fewer buttons on the game pad controller to emulate.

If you're like me and are wishing you could have the precision of a mouse and keyboard while playing console then this is a good product.
Overall I recommend the KeyMander, it has exponentially increased my ability to compete and have fun on the PS4.

The product came with many cables I found it was a little but of a struggle to initially set up but there are plenty of tutorials to help you along. Now the part everyone cares about, hardly any noticeable input lag, playable out of the box and the basic keybindings worked well for most games such as battlefield 4. Although you may need to change the keybindings with the program using a pc or laptop for fortnite as the usual keybinds playing on builder pro for controller where impossible to use almost.

I got the IOGEAR KeyMander because, just like many, i wanted to use mouse and keyboard on my PS4 and Xbox One.The unit it's self is very well constructed and features a full metal housing all around the device. The graphic on the device is stylist and will go with most setups without looking too out of place. One feature of the keymander I feel that other devices are lacking is playmode. Playmode lets you with the keyboard and mouse plugged into the computer so you don't need two mouses and keyboards. Of course this isn't a issue if you have your Console setup away from PC. This is one reason i prefer the KeyMander over different devices such as the Xim Apex.

The setup is fairly easy plug one wire into the console and another one into the PC and your good to go. Setting up profiles is a task if you don't know what your doing, luckly in keymanders website you can go to the forums and download premade profiles, these profiles are a good starting point if you don't know what your doing. You will have to calibrate the mouse to your liking, this is a trail and error process and can be a bit annoying.

The KeyMander is a very good device and does what is suppose to do, I would 100% prefer this to any controller, if you can get past the setup for each game than its a very good product for the price.

It does the job. Very difficult to setup and get the right sensitivity. Does not make you really good at the game but it does make it much more comfortable. If they hurry up and finish the android app it would make getting everything perfect easy. For me the USB pass through the pc so I could still use my keyboard and mouse on my pc and the console at the same time did not work. I had to keep unplugging and re-plugging to configure it.

Has some issues with the firmware update be sure to read the iogear forum before u try to update it. the instructions r not so good I've got most of my info from keymander YouTube channel. Other than that it works great for shooters I'm playing games on hard mode and it still looks easy. Also try to use gaming mouse and keyboard for maximum efficiency!
