Product Description

Please be advised if you are not buying from Unique Products Online- You maybe getting a knock off. This Advanced IR Repeater System is Easy to Install - 1. Place the Receiver in your desired location. You can attach it to the location with the included double sided tape if you wish. 2. Place the IR emitters on devices that you want to control. (Place them on the IR window on the devices) by peeling and sticking the emitters on the device. 3. Plug the IR Reciever into the IR receiver jack on the IR repeater controller and plug the dual head IR emitters into emitter jack of the controller 4. Mount the hidden controller in cabinet with the electronics and plug it in you are done. Working with Plasma and LCD Displays Although not designed to reject interference from plasma or LCD TVs, you can work around this by installing the IR receiver eye in an area that isn't exposed directly to the TV screen - at the back of a bookshelf, on the wall below or next to the TV - somewhere the eye can't "see" the TV image. Just make sure you still have a direct line of sight from the eye to your normal seating position. The Hidden IR System can be used in a room with a plasma TV or LCD display by installing the IR receiver in an area where it can't "see" the TV image - behind the TV or in a bookcase, for example. Additional information - Keep your home theater devices behind closed cabinet or closet doors, even when they're in use. The compact All-in-One IR System makes sure that all of your A/V components receive the commands sent from your existing IR remote controls, even without line-of-sight access. A small receiver can be placed near your television or mounted somewhere around your equipment cabinet, and this system will deliver your commands to up to 12 individual home theater components. It's easy -

Not sure what the other guy's problem was with this repeater...It works great! I originally wanted to get the HotLink Pro system based on the high number of reviews that it received, but I ended up getting this one as a Christmas gift. I tested it and it worked really well with no lag and good range, so I then proceeded to take the plunge and install it in my home theater setup. I was very concerned that there might be interference, as I have a 58" plasma TV on the wall...This was not a factor at all. I could not get this unit to fail by placing the IR sensor anywhere around my TV. It worked even slightly out of sight behind it...That said, the unit is installed just below the TV and center channel speaker. I have the system connected to the TivoHD, the Xbox 360, and my Onkyo amp and it has not skipped a beat. I would highly recommend this to anyone needing a good IR repeater, and is not necessarily concerned with hooking it up with no line of sight. Small obstructions do not affect my signal, but it does get over 30ft of range if the IR receiver is in sight. I was able to use my Harmony remote from outside on the patio with all of my devices neatly tucked away in my office. All this for half the cost of the HotLink Pro - Very happy indeed!

Installation's pretty simple and cords are all pretty long to make it easy to get everything to reach where it needs to reach.

I had troubles with performance right away, which wasn't very good at all. Thought about sending it back, but I contacted the company ... and after describing the problem and the device I was controlling (a digital, HD cable box from Motorola), they immediately sent me a newer, dual receiver.

Now everything works flawlessly. The problem I was having was apparently specific to fitting the HD system I have.

Bottom line: You might want to contact the company to see if this specific IR repeater system works with the devices you want to control, especially if they're newer devices. (Note. The dual receiver can be found separately here on Amazon: Cmple - Dual Frequency IR Receiver SA HDTV DVR and DirectTV H21).

I purchased a flat screen tv for our bedroom and wanted to eliminate all the cables and the satellite box... which the newer version of the HD Directv receiver has relatively bright blue LEDs... that can be bothersome when you are done watching tv and want to sleep. My wife and I did not want a cabinet in the bedroom for the tv and satellite receiver. With relative ease I was able to put the receiver in a bedroom closet and run the cabling thru the wall... including the IR repeater wires... all behind the flat screen tv. A small LED receiver, 1/2 inch by 1 inch, is barely visible and the only thing in the bedroom is the flat screen, thin (1.2") Samsung LED wall mounted... looks great, as all you see now is the tv no distraction of the cables running out from behind the tv, etc.. You know the pictutre. The satelliet receive has never been more responsive and there are no more annoyning LED lights form the satellite receiver lighting up the bedroom. Great product for a decent price... The instructions for setup seemed vague but I just hooked it up as diagrammed and everything worked immediately! There were also options for various more complex installation that would be useful for the primary entertainment center in your home where you have more devices to extend the IR remtoe control signal too. This unit comes with four (4) LED emmitters to control four (4) devices but has expansion ports for up to six (6) devices total...

Very easy to install and quite flexible. Receiver is small and mounts easily on the front of TV, and the 4 individual LED repeaters are tiny and mount on anything with 2-sided tape. Just make sure the repeaters are in front of the "eye" of the DVD or amplifier. System now works better than when I kept the cabinet door open with the components facing me, and I can keep the door shut and arrange the components in any way I want. Now, if I can see the TV, the remote will work. Nice additional benefit: when the receiver sees the signal, it blinks blue so you can tell it got the message - particularly nice since the DVR response is so slow.

The unit does what is advertised. If you are using a plasma, then you need to mount it behind the TV (Mine is about 4 inches, on the wall) Does its job well.

The only problem is that this is the third time I have purchased the unit (The parts are run through the wall and I don't feel like opening the wall) It is very fragile and the SLIGHTEST electrical disturbance renders it useless. On top of that you can't just buy a replacement brick. One time when the power went out, and another time when I was reconnecting a displaced connector.

I bought this to test a theory on a failed Onkyo TX-NR809 remote sensor. The Onkyo is still under warranty, but I didn't want to ship it to the regional service center and be without it for many weeks. So, the problem was that 18 months ago when I bought the Onkyo it was resistant to accepting remote commands from the original remote. I thought it was placement, etc.., but last week I set up a new theater system and the remote just would not work! I needed a remote that would do macros, so I bought a Logitech 650 and it worked with everything except the Onkyo, so I knew the remote was fine. My next thought was that the remote sensor was bad, so I explored the 'zone 2' or behind cabinet doors option with this IR repeater. There is very little info on how this stuff works, so I thought I'd write this book on it!

First: The IR repeater works great! My use was to use a direct 2 connection male to male 1/8" from the block to the IR in on the back of the Onkyo. This did not work initially.
I read all the docs regarding this distribution block, but it didn't help much. There is very little to help someone do what I wanted. I actually called an authorized service center and he and I read the same page where he declared "no, it is obvious that you don't understand how it works." Turns out it works exactly as I read it, exactly as described and exactly as any reasonable person would expect it to work (note: probably wouldn't send my Onkyo to Carmel IN).

As it turns out, the remote has an ID that has to match with the receiver (done so that if you have more than one Onkyo device, they won't interfere). My receiver apparently was set to "3" of the three options and when I changed it to "1" it worked!
