External dimension is 14.5 x 14.5.

These look like they are great cases, but they measure 14.5 x 14.5, not 12 x 12. They must be designed to hold items that are 12 x 12 (internal dimension), but I wanted them to fit on my IKEA Expedit book shelves, which are 13.5 x 13.5 inside each cube. I need to return them. I hope having the measurements will help someone else.

So just to be clear, these containers aren't 12x12" - they're just made for 12"x12" paper (with a little bit of room on the sides).
The actual dimensions are 14 1/8" x 14 5/16" (x 3 1/8" high).

- When storing 12x12 paper, there's enough room on the side of the paper to fit a few pens or other small items.
- The corners jut out further than the sides, which protects the paper corners from smushing against the plastic.
- The plastic is thinner than other similar products but is strong enough to stack a few of these on top of each other and secure enough for paper storage. The hinges are quite strong.
- BPA free and acid-free.
- Made in the USA (the manufacturing plant is in Texas).
- The price is good!

Things I don't love:
- They don't stack. Of course you can technically stack them, but they don't lock together at all.
- The latches don't snap closed which makes them less secure than similar 12x12 paper storage boxes.
Those are fine trade-offs considering the price and quality otherwise.

I purchased two 12x12" IRIS Scrapbook Cases to store some large family heirloom photos, prints, albums, and negatives. I already own several IRIS photo cases (with individual cases inside) and value the quality of IRIS products, the price for these scrapbook cases couldn't be beat! I was surprised by how much fits inside too. Take a look at the photos included, I placed glasses on top for a depth reference.

My only 'con' is that I wish these had better locking mechanisms. The closures snap down, but aren't as secure as other IRIS products.

I'd have given this five stars if it had buckle clasps, but it only has cheap snap latches. Still, for the price, it's pretty good. The nice thing is, even though its for 12x12 paper, it accomodates for the extra height of paper that is in a scrapbook pad (about 1/2 an inch taller). I didn't even think of that, so I'm glad the manufacturer did, because the box is slightly wider along one direction. It would have been nicer if these had been designed to nest a bit better--they slide off each other fairly easily, with only the barest of ledges on the top of it, to keep a box above from sliding.

I bought this scrapbook case to hold some of my more large sized paper (the 12x12 sheets). I liked that it was fairly deep so it accommodates a large amount of paper in it, my biggest issue with the case is that it pops open way to easily. I figured based on the pictures that it would lock closed with those little snaps, but the snaps don't really close that well, sometimes when I am moving the box around my office the snaps with become unlocked. I wish I had found a case that locked better.

I've been searching for a project case for my son's things that I've been collecting over his first year of life..baby book, cards, pictures, hospital bands, pacifier, hair clipping from first haircut, Ect. I have bought three different project cases, on Amazon, and have had to return them all. This one is perfect!! Finally! It is even bigger than I expected. I was worried 12x12 wouldn't be big enough. But it's actually bugger than 12x12. I think it is just called 12x12 because it holds 12x12 scrapbook paper comfortably. I am going to order another one for my younger son so they have matching cases.

Good for organization of small items

I ordered two of these for non-scrapbooking purposes, and one arrived already broken. That's nothing against the product, more the handling somewhere during processing, but I submitted an Amazon return and hopefully the replacement that is on its way is fine. The remaining good case is just what I wanted. I was looking for a low-profile clear case to sort all the miscellaneous parts and pieces in my husband's tool drawers. I wanted them contained so they don't just rattle around when you open and shut the drawer. I also wanted something not too deep, so that you can't fill it so much that you have no idea what's in it anymore. This case worked out perfectly for that. It fit in the drawer, and is large so it can hold a lot of things in one or two layers so that everything can still be seen inside. The intact case seems sturdy enough, however I'm aware that because it's a plastic product it could end up chipping in places like its counterpart. The good and the bad of the broken case was that at least the chip was on a piece that wouldn't have stopped it from working or locking shut, so I feel pretty confident it won't have any real issues unless I'M the one who drops it later and breaks it.

Great Scrapbook Storage!

Love this project case for storing scrapbooks in-progress! It's great that it's clear so I can see what's on top inside the case. I've tried some colored cardboard scrapbook storage boxes that don't seem to hold up well when stacked with other books, board games, and scrapbook storage boxes on top of them. These clear plastic cases seem to hold up better.

My only complaint? The 12" X 12" size fits my scrapbooks of the same size so well that it's a little difficult to fit them in the case easily. Takes an extra minute, but if you're looking for something that fits a 12" X 12" square scrapbook "like a glove" with no extra space on the sides, this is the perfect storage solution for you! Overall? Would recommend.
