Top Customer Reviews

It was the most horrible experience. The box promisses that the pen will translate from 11 language pairs including German - Russian. When I installed it it comes out that it translates only from English and to English. I called their customer survice in the US. They were totally incompetent and said that the box is incorrect. I talked to the fist represenatative who answered the phone and his supervisor. Next day I called their customer support in Belgium and it comes out that I had to install German language which was on the same CD. After installation it started working, however the translation is absolutely ridiculous. We had several good laughs and returning this product. It can not translate simple sentences, it gives the most ridiculuous translation of individual words and the customer support in the states should be fired if IRIS wants to stay in business

How can a company stay in business with such poor customer service? I never did figure out if the thing will actually work. I lost the software because I was moving just about the time I got the pen. Then when I tried to get help I got no responses from their automatic system even though these were promised. They did not establish communication with me so that we could work something out. Just left me sitting and not knowing where I stood.

Eventually I got a salesperson on a line and he was quite rude and would not even let me finish my sentences. I feel that rude personnel are a symptom of bad management. So I will rate the product on the basis that the evidence adds up to bad management and poor backing of their product. A good company does not build an automated computer wall between it and its customers and then on top of this hire rude people who do not know how to treat customers like fellow human beings.

Possibly the fellow was annoyed because he was sales and I was asking advice on how to get through to product support. But he should not have taken it out on me. In the end he finally after wasting a lot of time chastising me, said that customer support did not have any outside line and that there was no way for me to talk with anyone directly. He was so snotty that I don't even know if I should believe him. He also assured me that if I used the automated system someone would get back to me. But no one ever did. I just kept waiting and waiting for an e-mail.

One gets the impression that the word from the top of the company is "make sure no one bothers us with their problems about this product. If you can't help them quickly and easily just get rid of them. Make sure they just go away." I have to wonder if the product is defective and maybe they don't want to give refunds if they can't help customers get it to working. Or maybe it is just bad management pure and simple.

I bought the Irispen Translator 6, three weeks ago. After a day and a half of attempting to get it operational I was distracted by everyday living - like eating, working etc. I don't have time or the inclination to mess with things that don't perform as stated. The advertising blurb says plug n' play for Windows 7. Yeah, I know some computer geek will have it up and running in 30 millisecs but all I need is either plug n' play as promised or instructions that idiots like me can follow. In the absence of either I await reincarnation with an IQ of 150 and a Phd in computing - until then my advice to all non-geeks is don't buy this device. The delivery was speedy and ahead of schedule with good packaging.
