On thin stranded wire at the highest setting, screw all the way in, it does not offer enough pressure to strip the wire. I fixed this issue by taking a small 2/56 screw with a phillips head and cutting the thread length to approx 1/8 inch. This goes in the bore first with threads inside the spring and then the hardened bullet sits in the hole in the back plate bullet head in first. Once this is reassembled if you adjust the screw all the way in,you should not be able to complete a compression. This means the spring is completely compressed. To strip 26 gauge wire I would try 2 to 2 1/4 rotations in from completely out on the adjustment screw. I would also advise a small dab of lithium grease on the plate. This will reduce wear from the increased pressure when stripping thinner wires. I can now strip very thin wires and still use the tool for 12 gauge house wire as well.
I am attaching a video of stripping 1/2” insulation off thinner wire. You can see from the photos that the wire stop measures how much insulation to strip accurately. By far my favorite wire strippers. One size fits all. You don’t need to worry about knowing which gauge of wire you are stripping. Most standard wire sizes will strip perfectly with these wire strippers.
I can’t recommend these strippers enough.

About the tool. Once I received it I put it to the test right away "on the field", working on a renovation at a local hospital, I work with special wire and all sizes, from 22 to 00, obviously this tool it is only rated to # 10.
Some of the features of the tool as the stripping gauge seem not very useful and after trying it for a couple of times I decided to just not use it.
Stripping small wire was fast and it would work almost every time, even shielded wired 18-2 or 20-2, which I found very annoying dealing with regular strippers. It would take the tool no effort to get the outer jacket and then I could some times with a little adjustment strip both wires.
Stripping #12 and #10 was a different story, it was a hit and miss.
First I tried with some wire with the clear jacket, the tool will not do very well, it was almost like it wanted to strip the jacket first and not the insulation. I found this very annoying and will go back to my regular wire strippers.
The tool also does not like small sections of wire, so if you are making "pig tails' the tool is basically useless.
Compared to a regular wire stripper, this tool does not have a hole to make a wire loop or to cut bolts, like other wire strippers, so again you have to go back to your regular wire strippers to perform these tasks.
I feel like this tool is aimed to the Data or Low Voltage electricians, not to the residential or commercial. It feels solid and well built but it does not work on all wires and you definitely have to keep your regular wire strippers on your pouch.

I am not a professional now but I was for many years so I have a pretty good idea when tools are good quality and these are pretty good.
There seem to be a load of wire strippers all looking identical so it's hard to tell if it's worth paying the extra for 'Brand' name items like these but I think I did the right thing buying them as the strippers I received seem to be high quality and so far are working well.
I don't think they would be suitable for heavy gauge solid core mains wire but hopefully nobody would be daft enough to buy them for that kind of use.
They are probably not meant to be used for removing the outer insulation of 3 core flex either but I tried it and it worked so....
In summery as a wise man said buy cheap and buy twice. These are not crazy expensive but not the cheapest so hopefully will give years of service.
This is the tool I wish I had bought years ago.
Brilliant wire stripper and so fast. No more messing with knives or ripping the skin off your fingers from repeated stripping. Buy this Irwin Stripper, you will soon see what I mean.
Everything else is just so perfect and great, well in the start you will get yourself hurt cause you aren't placing you hand correctly but when you get the hang of this thing, woouw, great result each time.
