Top Customer Reviews
This set comes with 8-inch pliers and ten-inch pliers. Both operate smoothly and lock into place nicely with no slippage. The front edge fits together flat for grabbing stuff, and the center of the jaw becomes rounded for gripping bolts or other objects. The handles are coated with a rubber-type layer to aid in gripping the tool; I've had no problem gripping it even when the tool has been completely wet.
These also come with a lifetime warranty, For completeness, I highly recommend the 6-inch version of these also.
I use Amazon for most of my purchases and update my reviews if anything changes with the products. I do this so other Amazon users can get a real feel for the life of the product. You can look at my review which will be close to my purchase date and tell how the product is doing as time passes. I am not associated with any company and all opinions are my very own.
Update: 3 years later
I recently built a wooden toolbox to carry around my property for odd jobs. I bought blue and yellow Irwin tools for it so that I wouldn't get them confused with any of my other tools. That way I always know where they belong. These pliers were put in there too. I am quite satisfied with the quality of these Irwin tools and would put them up against any other brand.
Nice to have a tool that serves the purpose of several.
Love the push-button design. Way better than fumbling with a tongue-and-groove pliers. You push the button to adjust the jaw size larger or smaller (it is not required to use the button to make the jaws smaller, it is possible to simply push the lower arm upwards). When not depressing the button, the jaws stay locked in at the selected size. Teeth are angled to give maximum purchase in one direction, so be prepared to flip pliers upside down to spin a fitting the opposite direction.
Pliers were a little lighter than i was expecting, but has very little flex even when clamping with full strength. Nonslip grips are excellent and overall ergonomics are very comfortable. Cant speak for longevity yet, but they took care of the first job extremely well. Would recommend to a friend.
I also bought the 12" version of these and they work well.
I have been a fan of Irwin tools for quite a while now, but I will be the first to admit that rarely do their tools stand up against the industry standards. For example their hand tools are usually not as good as say Klein or Channellock. These however have broken the mold and I believe they are replaceing my Channellocks of equal size. They are a great product at a great price, and make a great gift too. Ray
