In the first book the 3 boys (Jarah, Aidan,Tristan ) are captured by an evil ruler who wants to use them in his army, they escape and join up with the 3 girls (Djana, Kex, Tegan). They begin their quest to find the magical crystal that will help defeat the Evil ruler. In the Second book, the quest continues with the Six having found the healing Crystals and have set in motion the saving of Ialana. The fighting of enemies and the collection of new friends make this book a even faster paced book then the first and it shows how the Six grow in their talents and strengths while developing even stronger relationships. In the third book several years have past and the Six have children of their own. Anwyn, the daughter of Jarah and Tegan is the key to finding a destructive weapon that could destroy Ialana. In this story you will find an even more descriptive world. I like how Katlynn Brooke has woven many characters back stories together and how complex some of her new magical creatures are. This story is the conclusion of a organic and well thought out masterpiece. I recommend reading all 3 books back to back to get the full effect of the story. I believe young adults and those who like to read fantasy would enjoy the Ialana Series the most.
"Katlynn Brooke takes us to a magical land where 6 main characters are on a quest to find the long lost (500 years!) crystals of Ialana. They are joined together through a mutual calling and a shared dream to guide them on their adventure. While there are many trials along this quest, the reader is taken on a journey with the characters. The trials are not cumbersome, nor is the fact that the story takes on different perspectives.
I have to say that the different perspectives and reflections of the 6 are what I liked best about this book. It was fast paced with adventure but it was finding out how each character viewed the quest in relation to them that drew me in. I would recommend this book to any fantasy/sci fi lover, but especially to young adults as I feel that they would find this book to be relatable and empowering. Well done!"
I have to say that I am very glad that I went back, re-read the first book, then read the rest of the trilogy in order. I truly enjoyed the adventures that the Six (and eventually Anwyn) and found the creatures to be engaging and fascinating. Brooke does a solid job of carrying her storyline, growing it, and making the reader want to continue turning the page. I find this whole trilogy to be an overwhelming success and I have already recommended this box set to family and friends that love fantasy books.
happened. I will break all three books down to make this review easy to write.... Book 1 is my first review that I wrote when I read book
one. This Author is a very talented writer.
Book 1 : The Six and the Crystals of Ialana (Book One in the Ialana Trilogy) I love this story and this is the first book that I have read from this author. I think she has differently made a fan out of me.
her writing flows nicely and very easy to read. Granted this book has many chapters but honestly this book is worth the read.
This author knows how to pull a reader in. I found a quote that I really do like a lot because it just sums up this book just perfectly
and many of uswould understand... " I don't dream like they do, he thought. They must be magicked. My dreams are more about real
life. I am going to join the Army. I will make alife for myself, without my father or the other people from Meadowfield. None of them
appreciate me for who I really am. He sat and thought about that for a while. He didnt know who he really was; he only knew he would
one day be an important person,a person who made things happen. We all dream one way or another and sometimes we dont dream
at all and it all depends on how the day or the night went for us in order for us to dream.
Book 2: The Six and the Gardeners of Ialana (Book Two in the Ialana Trilogy) In book two is when emotions start to run high, I really like chapter 4. the keep because not many parents
would go running though the coward to get to their children. " Perhaps we'll be back by the end of the day, at least we'll get to see the city".
Book 3: The Six and Anwyn of Ialana (Book Three in the Ialana Trilogy) wow, I would not like to see the first line as it reads " If I am dead,
I don't want to know it".
For the record I love all three of these books....
