Reflecting a classic Ibanez body style, the Talan bass series sports a cool retro look with a sound that will inspire players of all ages. The TMB100 gets back to basics and delivers a one-two punch by combining a passive P/J pickup configuration with a retro Ibanez body design for a bass that delivers in looks and sound. Electronics consist of an Ibanez DXP neck pickup and a DXJ bridge pickup for that rich, vintage sound and a custom 2-band Active EQ for increased tonal options.

I got the talman tmb100 in tfb in the mail yesterday... It was set up nice and intonation was perfect.. I raised the action by taking out the truss just an 1/8 of a turn and wow this thing rocks... the pickups are a little weak. mainly the jazz pickup it has lower output than the P pickup but works well in the blend middle setting I did a sound test video... the body is a three piece mahogany and looks good with the grain all going the same way in the tfb.... and I love the tort pickguard!!! the neck is nice and chunky and comfortable not a thin weird neck like on some basses... the strings are a good quality taperwound I think they are elixir I don't know if there coated tho... Nice bass, my other bass a Ibanez btb 6 string. I own a 3/4 double bass also but I was looking to fill my void of I nice 4 string with a low price tag and I found it!!!

I was a bit skeptical about purchasing any instrument online. I like the feeling of going to a store and playing and testing an instrument out. I like feeling a connection to an instrument and just having the feel of it and all its specs. Thats usually how I go about purchasing an instrument but where I live now doesn’t really have good local music stores to go to and I was in desperate need of a bass. I play at church so I needed something with a good sound. I looked at video reviews and decided to go out on a lim and purchase it. Best decision I ever made. Have had this bass for about a month and a half now and I’ve Gotten so many compliments for the sound. And it also just looks amazing! Its a great beginner bass and I would even dare say intermediate level as well!

This bass is fantastic for the price range. The active Bass/Terrible boost/cut feature is great. Also there is a knob to blend the P-bass and Jazz Bass pickups. You can make this sound like 10 different basses with the combinations of the knobs making this a very versatile bass. I got stuck playing Jane's Addiction - Three days for hours. 50/50 blend of the pickups and the Terrible boost at 3 O'clock got the perfect sound for that song.

Arrived a couple of days early, and unharmed. This is my first Ibanez since my very first electric guitar in the early 80's. It was a piece of garbage. This one...I am surprised at the build quality of this $199 bass. Smaller hands may think the neck is too thick, and it is quite heavy. But it sounds great, looks great, and plays really nice. The action was a bit high right out of the box, but a slight adjustment was easy. I searched YT for the top budget basses before making a choice, and this was always at the top. I am not disappointed.

Great bass, but the action is a bit low. Probably just a low-set nut that should be replaced. Untighten the bridge action adjusters, because the initial action provides an awful fret buzz on your 1st to 2nd fret. Great sound, nice pickups, and great for a beginner. Maybe not too great for a professional though.

While i like the tone and feel of this bass a lot, its just a little bit too spaced apart the further up the neck you go, playing in F or F# is quiet hard on the hands as my fingers are fairly average in length. Overall though the instrument is a great value, sounded pretty good without getting it setup and after i had it setup with flatwound strings it sounded amazing.

I read a few negative things about the setup of this bass, and either they were unlucky or the seller stepped up their game. This thing came out of the box already tuned and the bridge setup was super low and crunchy just how I like. The neck has a nice satin finish so it’s easy to slide up and down as you please. Fairly wide neck, but not too wide. It’s comfortable and i have medium sized hands. The action feels pretty good too. If your bass doesn’t come set up as good as mine, don’t get upset. With a little tweaking, this baby has the potential to make you think twice about throwing down a grand on a high end bass. I was expecting a lot less for this price but I was very surprised at how much nicer this thing is than some of the higher end basses I’ve played. The range of tones you can get out of this thing is insane. I’d recommend this bass to anyone looking for that newest addition to their collection weather they are just starting out or have been playing for years.

I'm new to the bass and still so far have sort of a casual attitude about it compared to the guitar, so there's not much I can say comparing it to anything else or to the expectations of an experienced or serious bassist. But I do very much enjoy this thing. Sounds fine to me, feels fine, looks all right (the teal is not quite as vibrant in person as I imagined but I still like it).

Just a couple of construction issues similar to ones I've seen in other reviews. The tone knob (which is two-in-one, an outer ring around an inner knob that each turn independently) has already begun to have the problem with the outer ring, it sort of comes detached and you can feel that it's loose and doesn't take effect, and I have to fiddle with it to get it to reengage with whatever internal part is is supposed to control, but it gives a feeling like doing so might be causing more damage. I'm worried it will soon fail entirely and I'll be stuck with a certain tone.

Also, one of the screws holding on the cover for the 9V battery compartment in the back (for the active pickups) was stripped right out of the box. Fortunately the battery fits snugly so I just don't even use the cover.

EDIT: Turns out guitars are not supposed to have neck dive. This one does. If I don't support it with my hands while having it hang on me with the strap, the neck dives towards the floor. It has become a problem, I am dealing with carpal tunnel syndrome and the extra muscling I need to perform with my left hand/arm to keep the thing in a playable position is probably part of the problem.
