I have been a fan of skating since the Peggy Fleming and Dorothy Hamill Olympic wins. This was a time travel trip back to the days of some champions I had loved but had pretty much forgotten detailed performances. It has the most beautiful dance Torvill and Dean ever put on tape. It could only have been better if it were on a DVD so I could hop right to the performance I wanted to see. But it was a happy purchase that I will enjoy a lot.

This is a terrible video. The sound is bad. The picture is blurry. I wasn't even able to watch the whole thing since the picture abruptly froze up several times and I had to keep trying bypass those spots. It doesn't deserve the one star I was forced to give it in order to post this comment.

My heart sank when I opened it - a blue disk. That means a copy. It froze several times in the first 10 mins but i hung on before starting a return request. It got better, I'll keep it but a small rebate is deserved AHEM.....the show itself.... picture quality not bad. I feared worse. It's funny how the big jumps were Doubles, when now Triples & Quads are the norm. I would say only for true skating fans, but who else would be reading this? 2 Dorothy Hamill's, 2 Robin Cousin's'es's, 1 Scott Hamilton. The "and others" was Rosalyn Sumners. Torville & Dean & the Protopropovoptopofovs were beautiful. Sorry I'm tipsy. I liked it, but not worthy of "best of the 80s". More like a small sampling.

1980年代のスケーターを知っている人にはとても懐かしいスケーターの映像の数々です。1980年代のプロ選手権からチョイスされています。ゴテゴテした演出は無いけれど、技を詰め込みすぎじゃないあたり、ゆったりと演技を楽しめます。当時を知らない人には逆に新鮮かも!?シングルの選手がこんなにエッジを効かして滑ってるよぉ！なんて。。。
Robin Cousineはやっぱり体の線がとってもきれいで、あらためて感動！Torvill & Deanのプログラムは幻想的で、今ならロシアのスケーターのプログラム構成のような作品やとってもコミカルなタンゴのナンバー！Dorothy Hamillはかわいいし、Scott Hamiltonはやっぱり面白い演技者でもある。どのスケーターものびのび演技をしているので、とっても楽しめます。Charlie Tickner, Toller Cranstinもとってもしなやかなスケーティングで感動です。
スケートファンにはお勧めの一本です。
