If that was a major in college I would have rocked that like no other. But anyway! On to the important stuff.
This book is all about Jordyn who is such an awesome character,
She's relatable, and fun and oh yeah a pretty powerful witch! But she learns that going home isn't all it's cracked up to be especially because you left town because you brought a boyfriend back from the dead you've got some hurdles to overcome! The rest of this story is about becoming comfortable with who you are, the importance of family and harnessing the power inside of us (witchy or not ;) )
All of these characters are amazing and even though this is a shorter story coming in at a little over 100 pages the level of character development for all characters is incredible, usually you get kind of flat
Secondary characters in shorter works but these are so lively and we know all about their back stories and everything going on with them and it's just a testament to Erin's talent that she could create such an amazing story in a short amount of pages that give us the complete story and leave us feeling completely satisfied at the end. Now that's not to say I wouldn't enjoy tons more Jordyn stories (hint hint!) I loved this entire story! And I think you guys will too!
After receiving a call that her mom was ill, Jordyn realizes she can't run anymore. Terrified, she heads home to face the consequences of her actions on the night the love of her life died in her arms. One choice made with a her broken heart had turned many lives upside down. She must embrace her powers as a witch and try to rectify the mistakes of her past before it's too late.
I'd Rather Be A Witch is another great tale of the power of love, heartache and facing our past on the road to maturity. Author Erin Hayes has once again proven why she is one of my favorite authors. I am anxiously awaiting her next book!
Even though it’s linked back to her novella in the Falling in Deep Collection, How to be a Mermaid, it had a completely different feel to it. Whereas the first was light and fun, I’d Rather be a Witch was full of darkness and foreboding. Goosebumps! There were moments when I felt the need to put the book down for a minute, but the characters wouldn’t let me! Serious creep factor.
I know there’s at least one more connected stories still to be released, to tell Alaina’s story, but I’m worried that I won’t ever come back to Jordyn! I feel like there’s still so much story to tell! With any luck, Erin will be susceptible to peer pressure and I can convince her to come back to her.
