About the Author
I was born in Los Angeles and now make my home in Divide, Colorado. An avid reader (my parents tell everyone they had to move from our first home because I finished the local library), I always wanted to "fix" stories so the characters did what I wanted, in books, television, and the movies. Once I began writing, I found this wasn't always possible, as evidenced when the mystery I intended to write rapidly became a romance. However, my entry into the world of writing can be attributed to a "mistake" when my son mentioned the Highlander television series on a visit home. Being the "good mother" I began watching the show and soon connected with the world of fanfiction, first as a reader, then as a critique giver, and then, one brave weekend, I wrote my first short story. Things snowballed and soon I was writing my first original novel. Much later, I mentioned something about a recent Highlander episode to my son, and he said, "Oh, I've never actually watched the show, I just thought the concept was cool." Little did he know what he'd started. I love getting into the minds of my characters, turning them loose in tight spots and seeing what they do. Too often, they surprise me. My published works include the Pine Hills Police Series, the Blackthorne, Inc. series as well as the Romantic Suspense novel, What's in a Name? and the Mapleton Mystery series. I've also published numerous short stories with The Wild Rose Press. I'm an active member of Romance Writers of America, and its Kiss of Death chapter, as well as Mystery Writers of America. When I'm not writing, or watching wildlife from my window, I'm probably reading.ave common ground for discussions. Little did she know she would enter the world of writing, first via fanfiction, then through Internet groups, and finally with groups with real, live partners. Her first publications were short stories, but she found more freedom in longer works and began what she thought was a mystery. Her daughters told her it was a romance so she began learning more about the genre and craft. She belongs to both the Romance Writers of America and Mystery Writers of America. Now a multi-published, award winning author, Terry resides with her husband and their adopted shelter dog in the mountains of Colorado. You can find her online at terryodell.com.

Brett Cashman’s dream job is to work for Blackthorne Inc, but his lack of military service and lone-wolf mentality keep him in hot water during his training to be part of this team. The first op he goes on is a dismal failure and he fears the worst, but it was a test to see what he’d do in a lose-lose situation. Relieved he didn’t screw up, he soon lands a real assignment: to keep Holly safe.
Except Holly doesn’t want anyone’s help, not until it becomes apparent she’s in over her head.
After a rocky start, Brett’s determined to do this job and to do it right. He knows better than to fall for the client, but there’s something about Holly that catches hold of his heart and won’t let go. With his honor and reputation on the line, Brett must decide which is more important, his job or this woman.
A page-turning read and a fun chance to catch up with some earlier characters in other Blackthorne Series’ books.
I like the way Terry opens her Blackthorne books with rapid fire action, and this book is no exception. I will admit to some strained suspension of belief, which accounts for four stars instead of five, but overall, the writing is crisp and the story flows smoothly. Fans of her Blackthorne series should enjoy this latest installment.
I received a print ARC from the author for my true and honest opinion when I write a review that is what i always give!
