Detective Kenny Elliot is the main character and he’s decidedly “noirs” worthy. To my knowledge, this author hasn’t written any series but this might just be the beginning of one. Detective Elliot is certainly interesting enough to carry a few more stories and the few supporting characters could be developed into a nice cast of accompaniment players. Not too much was done with the setting in this volume, but that’s easily handled, right?
There’s nothing gratuitous about the violence or sexual content and the language has only a few very soft expletives. Were this a movie, it would easily be rated PG. A multi level mystery featuring a battle weary detective with a special gift for things from an higher order...hhhmmm📚
