I can't speak to the long term durability but this one is sturdier than the similar looking ones on here. I do wish the cord was just a bit longer. However, given that it works well, doesn't interfere with the adjacent thunderbolt port and has a nice compact form factor when folded, I absolutely love it!
It does seem a bit fragile, and the USB-C connector is very tight. Pigtail is long enough to clear crowded ports, and if one is so inclined, a card can still be read with the physical card guides closed.
Overall exactly what I was after to replace a clunky desktop reader.
