Long ago our daughter loaned her dvd to us. She took hers back so we needed to buy our own. We laughed out loud, when we first watched this movie. But lately we have seen some parallels between the movie and current events. Is this becoming a documentary? ;)

The parallels between modern life and this movie are f***ing terrifying but there are lessons that can be learned from it. So sit back and watch the glorious future we're heading toward - antintellectualism, the loss of all boundaries between government, corporations, and entertainment, and a massive amount of trash.

Amazing movie ahead of its time. It was definitely funnier in the 90's before it became a documentary... but still a great movie!

This movie has been a favorite since I first saw it and with as many times as I've re-watched it again at a family, friend or co-worker's house-- it just finally made it into my own personal DVD library collection. Many of the jokes have an eye-opening view of society's progress that are eerie enough to actually happen even in this day and age if one's not careful.

The story starts with Corporal Joe Bowers, a US Army librarian, finding himself selected for a suspended animation experiment. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed, just average. When the government hibernation experiment he's involved in goes awry, Joe awakens in the year 2505 to find a society so dumbed-down by mass commercialism and mindless TV programming that now he is the smartest guy on the planet. It has a touch of Futurama in one sense as all Joe wants to do is go back home before the experiment ever happened. Chaos follows as he tries to navigate this new world he finds himself unexpectedly in before ending up in a position to put the world back on track under President Camacho.

Since the 2006 release of this American satirical science fiction film directed by Mike Judge hit the silver screen, it has become a cult film over the years. This movie stars Luke Wilson, Maya Rudolph, and Dax Shepard who work brilliantly together in this movie. Despite the lack of a major theatrical release this film has continued to receive positive reviews.

This is one of the best documentaries I have seen in a long time. I really liked the part where they just piled up trash on top of trash with no plan, that was great. I don't know how they were able to get the drone shot of the great trash avalanche. They must have drones flying all other the place to capture that one angle. I had watched CSPN as a kid but now I just watch "reality" TV shows so I didn't realize CSPN had changed. Much more exciting. The House of Representin seemed much more cool than they did back in the day. I read a lot of reviews saying the story falls flat... I didnt really understand that. How can real life fall flat? I've been to Costco, it's not a story. Ive seen where David Blaine froze himself just like Not Sure.

Idiocracy is probably one of my favorite movies ever. Brought to us by the same mind that created Office Space and Beavis & Butthead, it follows the journey of an average Joe (no, really, his name is actually Joe, and he is exceptionally average in every way) as he awakens 500 years in the future to a world populated by idiots. Fiction, or foresight--you decide. But, enjoy the movie.

You won't find any fancy special effects in this movie, but you will find memorable characters and a story that, sadly, may not be all that implausible. If you haven't seen it, watch it now, and if you haven't seen it in a while, you should definitely watch it again. And, if you find yourself participating in a military experiment to put people into suspended animation, you might want to open a savings account.

Everyone should watch this movie at least once, even more so it should be taught and study in school as well for the same reason you need to watch it to educated yourself on how everyone's actions have reaction and repercussions and that everything has a ripple effect and what we do today does and will effect the tomorrows to come. Stressing the important of taking self responsibility and the importance of education and communication not just though social media but actual human interaction that involves ones self physically being involved. Plus not taking our planet or the resources on it for granite. Enforces the moral code of "leave like you found it or better then you found it" or the quote "Leave this world a little better than you found it"
DID you know that even scarier that this movie was made in 2006 to make a light heart version of actual concerns about the human race EVEN SADDEN most of this points within the movie already have came to pass.
Don't believe me take off you foggles and look it up or even ponder about how right I am. Shocking and leaves you wondering and wanting self and world/environment improvement

The premise of the movie is that smart people aren't having many babies and really dumb people have a LOT of babies. A dumb guy winds up in the future where he is the smartest person on the planet and he finds himself in the role of having to solve the world's problems. This is a funny movie if it weren't so eerily accurate.
