I was fortunate enough to be in attendance at UNC-Chapel Hill when Arrogance was the goingest band around. I loved to watch Don, Robert, Scott, et.al. do their thing onstage. They were lively, funny and the very soul of party rock and roll. Not only were they all that, but genuinely nice guys, too. I have never been able to understand how they didn't break big-time into the mainstream. This album is, to me, great to the last note and very nostalgic--"South Side Girl" and "Your Sister Told Me" were Arrogance standards. I just love this one--from start to finish!
While the whole disc can't push this compilation over the 5 stars level, there's certainly a reason to catch up on Don's early work. Praying Mantis, Oh Cheap Chatter and my personal favorite A Million Angels Sigh are all here, and his live version of Renaissance Eyes leaves no doubt why fellow South Carolina rock standouts Hootie and the Blowfish released a cover of it in tribute. This is worth buying for sure.
