I found this on Author M. Robinson page.
I made a mistake and one clicked. I thought it was free to down load with kindle unlimited. I was looking through her books, and seen most of her books was free with kindle unlimited. but this was not free with kindle unlimited. It was $0.99
This is not normally something I was read. I thought it was free with kindle unlimited, and was going to give it a try.
Charlotte, is an older woman now. She is telling her love story to a writer.
I like romance novels, but, I like hot scenes. This is not my cup of tea.
Even though this is not something I can get into . I just can not get into the plot.
I did download some of this authors other books, since they were free with kindle unlimited subscription. I wanted to check out her other books, and see what they are like.
I like hot scenes, and this is the main reason I could not get into this story. If you like romance I do think you will enjoy it. It is a love story of a couple. I just did not get into it, because It is not my cup of tea.
The part I did not like, was the ending, and the fact it ended like that and, then the characters had back in fourth in the book. If I had known it would of been like this , someone telling their story I would not of purchased it. It has nothing to do with the author's writing. I like romance with hot scenes, and the in between to keep the book interesting. I like deep romance, dark romance, contemporary, young adult with hotness, best friends as long as they do not go back and fourth and hook up at the end. I like MC clubs, step brother, Mafia , Mob, ... I like alpha, possessive, knows what he wants and goes after it.
This is more of a slow build. And problems between a couple, with a sad ending. If you like that, Then I do believe you will enjoy the book.
57% "But ... I'm just not sure right now," he says. "Your family will never accept me, and I've tried everything to show them my feelings for you are real." He runs a hand over this stubble on his and leans up, resting his elbows on the table. "I miss my family, and I know you're never gonna leave your mama. I just ... I think I'm going to head back home and and figure things out."
( Charlotte was 18)
I like books, that have scorching detail scenes, I like books where a couple sticks together, and I can feel a connection between the characters. I like books where the female character is mature. I like books with twist, where the couple faces obstacle's together and come out stronger. To make your connection to the character stronger.
If you like the things I like in a book, then I doubt you will like this book.
We picked up right where we left off thirty years before."
This is not a book I can like. To much back and fourth, Then when the couple finally hooks up, Something sad happens, And I can not get into it. It does not have a hea. This is like reading on someones life problems. No real twist, turns, plot. Just someones daily relationship problems. And Charlotte some parts are just to cheesy.
I think there was not enough of the couple being together. And could not connect with the couple.
Don't get me wrong, there were a few things that I noticed that got under my skin a little bit - a lot of "lip biting" and "smirking", a dog that only knows how to do one thing - pee, a psychic bit that I thought was a little bit hokey, and I felt that some of (not all) emotions in the book were forced. What do I mean by that? I don't mean that the characters were forced into feeling the way they did. I mean that we, as the readers, were - feelings elicited. But again, just some of the parts. Overall, I felt that the storytelling and writing was very well done.
The thing I really enjoyed about this novel was how much it related to me. Yes, me ... a man. I am approaching 50 years old and I have my own share of "What If's" and life regrets. What would have happened if I had turned left instead? Where would I be now? Who would I be with? Some of the situations between Travis and Charlotte rang true with me in some of my own life experiences. It rang "true". That is the strength of this story. It will touch your heart. There is something in there for everyone. The modern day story with the three friends was well told and I felt that the two different timelines were seamless and worked very well to keep the novel moving forward and the pages turning. The pacing was excellent.
Did I cry? No. But I felt the sadness. I felt the aftermath. And I felt the happiness of living, and being with people who love you and who you love.
Great novel, and a recommend. I will certainly read this author's work again.
