Hugh and Antoine are brothers, alike in that they are fellow warriors and yet polar opposites in the way they deal with women. Hugh is the rare virgin hero and Antoine is a medieval player. When Hugh finally meets the woman he'd like to spend his life with, he finds she's already married. But there is something very wrong with her husband and their marriage and Hugh sets out to find out what it is and rescue her. Party boy Antoine slays a man who challenges his king's rightful authority and then meets his widow who turns out to be the one woman who could touch this playboy's heart. Shocked that he is drawn to the woman over the body of her dead but not yet cold husband, Antoine tries his best to deny their connection.
A plot twist links these two women and suddenly they have to power to save our two heroes from death and ruin. I appreciated how the author made these nearly broken women strong enough in the end to save their mighty warriors. I can't wait to read the next in the series.
