Review by Teresa
Another issue I had was Alyssa's relationship with her manager. She's really paranoid about him...to the point she's uncomfortable around him, and tells him numerous times to stay out of her personal life and to keep things professional. I think my issue was that, the author didn't really show how he was being a creep, so it made Alyssa seem annoying and like she was being over dramatic. I mean don't get me wrong there were a couple times you were like, ok...what's up with this dude? I think if the author showed a little more of his shadey side, it would've made her reactions more justified.
Honestly, I feel like this could have all been one book. To me, there was a lot of filler and fluff so it made the story drag a bit and I skimmed because of it. I think, many things could have been omitted and it would've made the book flow better. I really did like the storyline behind the book. There was so much drama and craziness, and it was pretty unbelievable, but I couldn't put the book down, because I had to know how it ended! I actually had to rant a little to my blog partners who then kept telling me to shut up and keep reading, so I could tell them what happened.
While I did have issues with this book, there were parts I really did enjoy. I think if she cleaned it up a bit and took some things out, that it would've been a 4 star read for me. It had a great storyline and the drama was off the charts and kept things interesting.
In the beginning I was like yes Alyssa is going out to make something of herself right after high school. She knows what she wants. While on her trip to Nashville she meets Logan. They talked while having an impromptu "date" at McDonald's. See Alyssa wants a life in music, little did she know Logan was headed to Nashville for the same thing.
Once in Nashville, things seemed to fall into place for Alyssa very easily. No way no how! Yes some might call it fate, but I am calling it luck!! She just happened to stop at a diner where a country music singer was with her manager. What are the odds? It's Nashville.
Any how once Alyssa has the night of her life with Tasha a big country singer. She magically runs into Logan again. Here is my thing and where it all starts to go eh for me. I get love at first site. I do the first night I saw my now husband I knew we were going to get married. It's just that Alyssa and Logan were to lovey dovey, to mushy, to oh I love you, don't leave me!! I understand having a bad experience with an ex. You just met for crying out loud!!! Give the girl some room to breath. Then when it came to having sex for the first time, or even before they had sex for the first time. It was do you trust me, if you keep doing that I won't be able to stop!! I wanted to gag almost. I'm sorry I said it!!
I loved reading about when Alyssa was jamming and singing that was great. Then the tragedy, the lies for 10 yrs. Trying to move on. 10 yrs of being apart. Getting back together, it seemed like they picked up right where they left off. OMG I couldn't take it. I had to skim. Sorry again!!
One thing you can say about this book is that true love never dies!!
