Product Description

If you care household gloves are made from forest stewardship council (FSC) certified latex, i.e. The natural rubber is sourced from a responsibly managed plantation. Furthermore, the rubber tappers, who cut the bark to get the raw material flowing, have received a fair trade premium, and it is their decision how to spend their extra income. If you care household gloves-good for nature, good for people. Available in three sizes-small, medium and large. Gloves naturally biodegradable and perfect for dishwashing, oven cleaning, house and bathroom cleaning and gardening.

Do not think there is latex in this paper. The product description is for gloves (hopefully corrected via complaint on feedback).
This is good quality parchment paper. Easily reused if applicable. There is no cutter. All of my cuts are off but no one is looking. I did read (just now!) to close lid and tear paper. I will try next time I need a piece and give feedback. Purchased the roll vs pre-cut for flexibility re size, use. It's ~size of a small roll of foil. It works well as an add-on and the price in slightly less than rolls of similar paper at Whole Foods type markets. I also deducted 1 star for no cutter. I like that no metal strip re environment and ease to recycle but the aggravation of uneven cuts is, well, aggravating. For a possible fix, I am going to try to affix the cutter off another box (waxed paper, foil) before I throw it out. If it works, I'll continue to save a cutter to use on this baking paper. I will update review if that works.

this natural colored parchment has a crisp texture, making it easy to crease and tear off the metal free package.
there is also no center cardboard tube, that package is full of parchment only. if you look at price per square foot,
this is one of the better bargains on the market

I wanted to buy Silpat silicone baking sheets but the cost has been prohibitive. Recently while scouring the organic section in our supermarket, I came across this parchment paper and noticed it is unbleached and has a natural silicone coating. At around $4.50 a box (for 70ft roll) I decided I'd give it a try. I LOVE IT! It imparts NO flavor on the food at all and the food slides right off. And another bonus, the sheets are reuseable too! I figure I'll get about 65 clean sheets (the size of my 13x13 cookie sheets) from this ... and using them 3-4 times each (who knows how many re-uses?)... that's a LOT of cookies!! I'm trying it out in my loaf pan with bread today!

I purchased the If You Care FSC Certified Parchment Baking paper mainly for the large size roll and price. It is a brown paper, which is fine, but in comparison to the regular parchment from the grocery store, it is a bit thinner. I find that I can't use it over as many times as other parchment paper I've used. Even that isn't a big deal, BUT...the most annoying part of the paper is not the paper at all. It's the packaging, mainly the serrated cutting edge. It is useless - I think the manufacturer could do better, and then I would up the paper to a four star.

What is there to say about parchment paper. It works.

I deducted a point for the box design. I use this stuff everyday and ripping off a clean sheet is next to impossible due to the lack of metal teeth that most boxes have.

Durable and reusable! The lack of "cutting teeth" for tearing off sheets isn't an issue at all (how hard is it to cut w/scissors?).

I had always used foil or silicone sheets in my toaster oven, but this is better because I can re-use it (as opposed to foil) and throw it away when soiled/darkened (as opposed to silicone sheets). I've used it to make biscuits, pizza, many kinds of roasted veggies, and today I tried, for the first time, fish "packets". So cool to open up packets, let the steam escape, and view the lovely baked fish and veggies inside :)

Makes clean-up a breeze!

Glad to support any green product and I've used this both for baking and for sewing projects with good success. However, unless I'm missing something, the ripping process is one of the worst I've ever experienced. I get that you don't want to add a non-biodegradable bit of metal to the packaging but seriously it's not practical to have to use scissors.

I have a Silpat silicone mat but I also like to use parchment paper for cooking certain things (or when I need to line something like a cake pan that the mat won’t fit). Cookies will spread out a lot on a silicone mat because it’s so slippery and, besides getting flatter cookies, this can sometimes result in crispy edges – especially if there’s a lot of butter/oil in the recipe. So, when I prefer chunkier, more evenly baked cookies I’ll opt for parchment paper. Also, cleaning the silicone mat sometimes takes a lot of effort, for example after roasting vegetables, and it’s easier (and sometimes more eco-friendly when you factor in detergent and hot water) to use a sheet of parchment paper that you can compost afterwards. Also, if you intend to cut your product while it’s still on the lining, don’t use a silicone mat – it can expose the fiberglass that lies underneath the silicone coating.

Both parchment paper and silicone mats are coated with silicone, which is considered safe for contact with food. On their website, If You Care has the following important information about how that silicone is sourced and prepared: “While some baking papers are coated with Quilon, which contains heavy metals like chromium that can be toxic when incinerated, If You Care Parchment Paper uses Silicone, derived from a natural element. It’s a much more expensive process, but one we feel is worth it for everyone.”

Besides the silicone, the If You Care parchment paper is made without chlorine bleaching, and is packed in a recycled cardboard box printed with vegetable-based inks and stuck together with non-toxic glue. It’s certified for municipal or home composting and is also vegan, Kosher, and not tested on animals.
