I really enjoyed this story of two brothers and the battles and choices that they face. The world with creatures, battles and some love needed brother to brother kept me captivated. You will totally relate to this novel if you have any siblings of what trials and tribulations that siblings can go through. Through thick and thin my sister and I have always had each other's backs even though sometimes we quarrel. We know that it would never be something that would tear apart the ultimate bond that we have as siblings. The Ifs is a lively adventure filled with sibling rivalry, bizarre creatures, dangerous battles, and brotherly love, a winning combination for a captivating read.

Landon and Broden have a relationship with each other that is both love and hate. Like I described above, I think that all siblings that have a strong relationship and bond go through these little spats throughout their lives. If you did not get mad at each other some of the time, it is my true belief that you just don't care enough about what the other sibling is going through. At times in te novel it seems that the real enemy that each brother really has to worry about is one another but there is nothing that they will not do to make sure that the other one is safe when it really counts. When the Ifs come into the story to ask the brothers for help, they will have to come together and get ready for battle. They find out that they will be fighting something that is trying to bring harm to the Ifs. This was a very interesting take on a war that the two boys find themselves in. You are wondering the whole time whether they will succeed or will the trouble makers ultimately put their plan into action against the Ifs. The story line is very creative and the author has quite an imagination that will keep its readers engaged throughout the whole story. This was a great read and I highly recommend it.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my opinion.

The book cover shows the two protagonists of the story, fifth grader Landon and third grader Broden. Also shown is a hawk with a little man riding it, which is a key scene in the book. This story begins with an introduction into the daily lives of the two brothers. The brotherly dialogue exchanges and fights between them has been portrayed well by the author. One can totally relate that to real life. Even though they fight constantly, there are many scenes which show their love for each other, which is so endearing!. They look out for each other. They have such a lovely relationship with their parents. Their mother is so understanding and their dad is really cool.

Once strange things start happening in their lives, they discover more about little people called the Ifs. I felt that word is derived from ‘elf’. But there is a little song in there with a lot of ifs in it which is why they are called so!. The Ifs ask the brothers to help them fight an enemy clan. From there, the readers are taken on a rollercoaster of fast paced events leading upto a battle!. First of all, I didn’t think there would be an epic war portrayed in a children’s book. However it is and trust me when I say, the author couldn’t have written those scenes any better!.

SPOILER ALERT : I usually never reveal spoilers but I need to mention this. There is a level of danger in the battle, that even adults would find intriguing yet there are no gory details, deaths (there, that’s the spoiler!) or major violence. I really thought atleast one If would die. But no one did. It’s been handled perfectly. Kids reading this would be absolutely amazed and ready to read more!.

During the war, Broden contemplates about war and how pointless it is. Such a beautiful thought that a third grader can have!. So, there is a moral in the story that little readers can remember. I am in love with this book!. Action packed, adventurous and thrilling!

Two brothers Landon and Broden lessons learned? No matter all the bickering and disagreement they have each others back. They're brothers true and true. Brotherly love will overcome all the obstacles both will face in this story. Landon and Broden typical boys getting on each others nerve. Tripping or tricking one another. Kicking or hitting to get a reaction. Slap fight, flip milk, kick the cap, elbow war. Strange things starts to happen, math problem solved, a heel is healed, movement in the bushes, noises in the sink. Now the brothers confide in each other about the strange occurrences. Should we tell mom? What if she don't believe us? What if she thought we were making it up? To their surprise mom is well aware of this mysteries occurrences. The beginning of the story inched slowly, building up to what the title indicated, "IFs." I found my anxious thoughts being pulled into the story, page after page of anticipation. Now mind you the author's expressive writing very detailed made me cringe when the boys antics get out of hand or when the "IFs" get out of hand too. Now the same problem of two brothers but in a different size, yes the IFs. People six inches tall a world where Broden and Landon are the giants and savior. Two IFs tiny brothers Slade and Glade, a riff between them noticeable, one voted the leader and the other voted out. Animosity apparent and a war is imminent, now they need the help of sword swashbuckling fighters. You guessed it, Landon and Broden. All this time Landon and Broden sword fighting was carefully watched from afar by the IFs. From here the story takes on a mythical theme of tiny village, tiny people, wild dogs, hawks, and other animals, either riding on the animals like a cowboy or flying in the air on the hawks like dive bombers.Read more ›
