Sometimes along the way of caring and sacrificing for our children, we lose sight of ourselves...our passions, dreams, goals. We may downplay our talents and undervalue our skills as if mothering didn't require any, and that is far from the truth! Some of us our looking to re-enter the workforce, become momtrepreneurs with flexible schedules, work from home, or just have some quality "me" time.
Throughout reading this book and doing the exercises, I felt a clearer, deeper sense of who I am and who I want to be. I know I will always be a passionate mom, but I'm ready to reinvent myself and make room for the dreams I put on the back burner. Fried warns that the process of finding your true purpose and passion is not overnight or effortless, but he includes so many motivating quotes and stories that you just can't help feeling a spark of inspiration to move forward on the path to self-discovery.
This book is one that I'll keep tucked in my nightstand, for easy access, to check in with myself along the way.
Loved all the quotes! Especially " The real measure of wealth is how much you would be worth if you lost all your money"
A must read if you are looking for a renewed focus on life!
A businesslike guide to fulfill your professional goals and personal dreams
Robert Michael Fried
ISBN 978-0-98379-770-8 (ebook)
Robert Fried involves readers not only with twelve well-written chapters, but also with hundreds of quotes from interesting and successful people.
Each chapter book discusses both business and personal principles for success. Each chapter ends with seven helpful points for working out the concepts presented.
The author has analyzed and lived his twelve point business and life-planning outline. He discusses how to define and ignite your passion and true purpose in life and evaluate actions to reach your goals. You must also reach out and help others, practice clear and concise communication and understand the creative process. Also, learn time management, wise investment of time and energy, and leaving a legacy, among other issues.
Fried has written an excellent book of plans and strategy--always necessary for reaching goals and dreams. However, like many motivational books, one thing is missing. Fried quotes several times from The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. That book will show you that missing point--a relationship with the source of the strength and wisdom to actually accomplish your goals--the creator God.
The book has worksheets at the end, (or online) for recording your personal planning.
This book contains the most incredible collection of inspiring quotes I think I've ever seen in a book that wasn't a book of quotes! There are almost too many, but the author does a really good job of weaving them into the text so that they don't appear disruptive.
This is not a book to read in one setting but to be read slowly and reread. There are a number of exercises and things to think about. It is a book that should be pondered. I especially like the 7-point jump starts and executive summary at the end of each chapter.
Well done and highly recommended.
