How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

Great sounds. Bought a number of copies to give as gifts.

As a big fan of Infinity Machine and Cross-Collateral, and later works such as Passport to Morocco, I found this album pretty disappointing. No matter how many times I listen to it, I can't get it to stick. The melodies, the solos, the riffs or the beats do not resonate in my memory. I can't really remember any of it beyond the major theme. So it can't be very good if that's the case. On the other hand, when I got Cross-Collateral, I darn near had an obsession with the album. I loved everything about it and it kept coming back over and over. Some of Cross-Collateral is so distinct that it really is like nothing else ever made.
If I had never heard Cross-Collateral or Infinity Machine, maybe I would not have been so disappointed by this album. But I don't know that it would have been that good if I hadn't. Right now I'm just going to say that I recommend skipping this one.
If you're a fan of fusion, check out Weather Report during the Jaco Pastorius period (especially "Heavy Weather"), Passport's Cross-Collateral, or Bela Fleck's Flight of the Cosmic Hippo.

Having bought the vinyl album of Iguacu, back in the seventies I was suprised by the latin influence. Now don't get me wrong,as much as I liked all the previous albums by passport this one was a nice surprise. If you approach the music with no preconceived notions and give it a listen, you will be more than delighted. My favorite latin fusion band of that era was and still is Caldera. It was a collaboration of some amazing players including Jorge Strunz on guitars and Eduardo del Barrio on keyboards. The sad thing about them was other than vinyl, I don't think they have ever been released on CD. If you have a chance to check them out I guarantee you will not be disappointed.Getting back to Passport I give every album they did up to Garden of Eden in 1978 five stars and Iguacu is one not to be missed!

I an very biased to the group Passport. Unlike many other great reviewers who do song by song or a more succinct review- i simply will say i had this on my worn out LP, transferred to a cd with all the ticks & pops. I was lucky to find this & many more i had on lp- I was lucky to find on Cd Iguacu & many more which I found & purchased from Amazon- although not one of his finest- it is well worth owning. Get it- listen to samples & go from there- Thank You

The only CD by Passport where they explored Brazilian Jazz. They did well. They should have stuck with this instead of the German Techno Stuff they were known for.
The cover is a picture of the major waterfall in Brazil upside down. It is a great introduction to what is inside.

A great recording if done right at the factory. Unfortunately this copy had bad encoding on the first track, it is unlistenable! The other tracks are fine. But one does not expect such poor quality on a factory made CD!

Was soll ich sagen? :-))
