From the manufacturer
The FLY-X3-PLUS Gimbal Stabilizer from Ikan turns your mobile phone or GoPro camera into a powerful image capture tool, shooting fluid professional video and eliminating shaky camera moves. The unique 3-axis brushless motor gyro system uses sophisticated software to stabilize your smartphone or GoPro, and makes pans, tilts and even walking shots appear to “fly.” Complicated steady rigs are difficult to balance but the FLY-X3-PLUS is easy to set up and operate. Simply place your smartphone in the cradle with your lens to the left, then level the FLY-X3-PLUS and turn on. The motors will level within a few seconds, and you’re ready to shoot.
For a better handheld solution for the GoPro Hero 3 & 4, use a GoPro mount (FX3P-GPM, optional accessory). The mount encloses the GoPro while allowing easy access to all buttons and quick-flip access to the battery. The GoPro mount is custom-fit for utilizing the GoPro on the FLY-X3-PLUS. To “fly” the GoPro, use the included hex key to remove the smartphone cradle, and lock and refasten the GoPro frame. Capture longer takes with the Gesture Control System. Initiate Gesture Control by tilting and panning the handle, and the camera will follow these movements smoothly.
The FLY-X3-PLUS comes with the gimbal and counterweight for balancing various phoneweights, a custom case, shoulder strap, charger and three overseas socket-plug power adaptors. The gimbal comes with three cradles for small and large smartphones as well as a cradle for GoPro Hero 3 & 4 only.
Built-in IMU: Inertial Measurement Unit
The 6-axis IMU is comprised of electronic devices that use inertial sensors* for gesture recognition. The sensors both level and anticipate the operator's intended movement while keeping everything level and smooth.
*A combination of 3-axis accelerometer and a 3-axis gyroscope packaged in a single chip
Easy to charge detachable battery comes included with the FLY-X3-PLUS.
Along with your FLY-X3-PLUS, three cradles are included, including the GoPro Session mount for your GoPro.

Top Customer Reviews
Unfortunately you really can not balance it with the 'L" shape attachable part.
It's poorly designed and looks like either the engineer had no clue how to do it correctly or they wanted to save money. I think it's both.
I had to discard the "L" shape section and find small nuts (2) and use the same tiny screw to fastened at the proper place. I'll have pictures later on.
Here's some important observations.
> If you don't balance it absolutely perfect, the unit will constantly 'humms' or the motors constantly working and drawing the battery down.
You WILL FEEL it in your hands the slight buzz feedback. Don't use it that way. It will not going to last very long. I'll detail out how to balance it properly in another time, soon.
> Once it's perfectly balanced (without turning on the unit) then you'll have an amazing stability for your phone. I used a phone that does NOT have its own internal stability like the iPhone models to see how steady it is. First time the footage looked rock-solid. BTW, if you have an iPhone, you may not need this at all. I used an old iPhone-4S without this unit and got satisfactory results. Not good as, but it would be a waste of money for you to stabilize just a bit more. Unless you're a pro and need absolute images, then it's another story. For everyday shooting is not all that useful with the iPhone models.
> Quality of the product is excellent. Durability is too early to tell.
> Well made and looks fantastic.
> Portability is OK, but if you want to carry it with you all the time, it's a pain on the ass. It's not for everyone.
> This product need a 'shoulder holster' something like Detectives have, to holster this product in when not used. Can not carry in hand. Too delicate and easily damaged if you bang it into something. Balance may shift and so on. Keep the unit in its case. I will be making such a case for myself and post pictures and instructions later.
> There are many small changes should be made to this unit. Nothing major. All this will also be posted later on. UI is a bit lacking and those needs to be upgraded.
> Paying nearly $400 to the Manufacturer for this unit and the instructions are just an after thought. Badly illustrated and no instructions how to set it up PROPERLY. Don't let the company video pitch convince you it's that simple. It is NOT!
> You'll be a little frustrated with it because of the balancing is super critical. More on this later.
If you can't wait and must have it, come back later on and read my observations, perhaps save some time.
This unit I got may have been a used, demo or returned item. There were some signs of using the battery and scratches accordingly. The plastic envelope containing small part(s) looked like it was crumpled up and re-used. This is not how a product is packaged if it's new.
There were some signs of non-repeatability once it was balanced correctly. Still testing it.
The unit still deserves a 5-star because it's working when in use.
The company contacted me about the 'buzzing' issue. (excellent support!)
To be clear, it's not a very loud buzz, but it indicates the servos are working constantly and correcting.
I will post the findings here later on. Perhaps this is normal, I don't know at this time.
The video shot with the unit is PERFECT, too bad I can't post it here.
Requested product to be returned today. It was not performing as well and getting worse. No point keeping it.
I really liked this unit when it worked and buy another one next time, from an authorized dealer.
Paid $379 originally and return fund is $364 what Amazon indicated.
We have purchased three more of this units and all of them work without a problem.
We will buy six more units by the end of this year.
Check out some of the video using this product. It's rocks-solid !
If you think about buying it.... buy it DIRECT from IKAN. Some of the sellers are not authorized to sell and that was my original issue... I got a used item, sold as new. Always buy from IKAN !
All our units work perfectly.
Wish we can show you a perfect rig for this units. Much easier to mount and hold with two hands. Not as tiring for long shots.
Amazon won't allow anything but their links.
Well, give it a shot and see if it works, modify the link, remove the (): fotosafariproducts.(com/page21.html)
Aside from that I was very impressed with how smooth and professional video looks. I used it to film some beginner ( slow) skiers and was amazed at how great it worked vs using a weighted handheld mount.
The manufacturer has been quick to help, but all replacement units have had issues.
The first made a very audible grinding noise while attempting to balance. The battery was fully charged and the phone (iPhone 6) was balanced properly before turning the unit on. I submitted an exchange to the manufacturer, which was promptly handled.
The replacement unit was worse than the first. After going through the proper procedure before powering on, the unit would spin uncontrollably. I tried three different phones and different weighting to see if the issue could be rectified. No luck.
I purchased a third unit from another retailer. This unit appeared to balance properly at first; however, I noticed that the angle would slowly being tilting to the left as I filmed. As a result, none of the videos taken over the course of a week were level. I tried weighting it differently, but still came out with the same result. By the end of the week, I noticed the grip was beginning to peel (see photos).
I feel that I gave this product more than a fair chance, but ultimately none of the units functioned properly. I won't be trying a 4th.
