Bought this months back, works great. Just beware, do NOT use rubbing alcohol to clean and set in dry erase marks, this WILL cause the letter to wipe clean off the board.

I wasn't sure if I should get this slate or another slate I saw on Amazon that had a magnetic clapper. Come to find out this one HAS a magnetic clapper so I was glad I didn't spend the extra money on that item when this one was a bit less expensive. The production slate is solid, works extremely well with my Foray dry-erase markers, and even had a slip of paper with it recommending dry-erase markers to use on it (Foray was one of them). Great price for this slate!.

This is a dry erasor production slate and works well. It is well built and the dry erase makes it easy to clean off the last take and get a clean slate for your next take. Great product, would buy again and it is highly recommended.

Hello All

Amending my review. Emailed iKan and told they how disapointed I was. They sent me a new clapper board free of charge. Great customer support, you can buy with confidence from them.

I bought this Ikan clapper and as soon as I opened it up I was disappointed. The top clapper part has a bunch of chips on it. Looks like it was painted by a 5 year old. The slate part of the board is acutally printed on an angle if you can believe it. The board works fine but I would say spend the extra cash and get something that at least looks better for in front of clients.

Cheers

Gusto

We've been making audio-visual products at my church for years, but this is the first time I've been involved as Stage Manager. I discovered that to synch the sound with the video they were using a hand-clap. I thought, "I'll see if I can get one of those clap boards like you see in the movies." I searched and researched, and settled on this one. It was a good choice: The Producer/Director was thrilled with it! We just used it for the first time, with markers bought just for this, and it really did the trick. This production slate arrived well-packaged and worked like a charm right out of the box, and the packaging was such that we can repackage it for storage when we're done with each shoot.

This product is really nicely built and works as expected, however it is also a little on the flimsy side. After fairly normal use, mine has a chip in the bottom of it, and the screws have a tendency to loosen (though they can be tightened).

If you're looking for a long term buy, I think you can find a better product, but if you need something short-term, this does great.

The sound it creates is also strong and made well.

Is it really that hard to put two straight, unwarped peices of wood on top of a piece of plastic? The clappers them selves are twisted and warped so the slate can't really even clap, it just kind of thuds. The plastic is "glued" into the bottom clapper at an angle. the screws were jiggling around when i first got it, I tightened them up and now realize how flimsy the metal joint is. Good thing this is just a backup to my denecke ts3el slates. I think i'll rip off the clappers from this one and make my own.

Shockingly bad. Wow, where do I begin? I ordered this from Amazon and just received it today.

1. The slate looks NOTHING like what is pictured above (different text, spacing, everything)

2. The slate came out of the clapper upon removing it from packaging.

3. The lines on the slate are printed on a slant.

4. Rusty hardware, and one screw wasn't even secure.

5. Glue marks and scratches all over the clapper.

See my photos (with notes) that I just uploaded.

In closing, AVOID. I'm not sure why this product has such good reviews on Amazon. I obviously got a lemon or previously returned item, and hardly worth $38.

I've asked for a refund so I can buy a different brand. I can't see how this could be better if I returned it for a new one.

Good things:

1. It arrived next day via OnTrac thanks to Amazon Prime

2. It was well packaged, which doesn't excuse its condition at all
