Not the great clips they used to sell

For years, IKEA sold Swedish Twixit brand clips for closing bags, rebranded in their own packaging. They work great and last a long time.

A year or so ago, IKEA decided to drop the excellent Twixit clips and start selling cheap Chinese knockoffs under the same IKEA name in the same package.

DO NOT BE FOOLED. These are not the same product, they are made from a cheaper hard plastic. They do not flex to close a larger package. They break after limited use. The colors are even not as attractive. I was pleased to see the Twixit clips still for sale on Amazon and will be buying those.

Shame on IKEA for sullying the name of a great product with these cheap knockoffs. We expect better!

Great clips with only two small drawbacks — been using for years and never had one break!

As a nutritionist, I like to have lots of little bags of various foods stored in my refrigerator. The smallest clips are great for my little bags of Brazil nuts (just 1 Brazil nut is your full day's supply of selenium!), schisandra berries, pumpkin seeds, maqui berries, prunes, dried apricots, and so on.

The next size up of clip is great for larger bags of almonds and pecans, also frozen goods like bags of green beans, wild blueberries and raspberries.

The largest clips are great for larger bulk bags of rolled oats, cashews, and even non-food things like bags of tea-candles, bags of bottle-lids, and so forth.

To makes sure the bag is sealed tightly, I do NOT twist the bags. I lay them flat and fold them over once length-wise if needed to fit in the said clip.

I've never had one break on me. The gave two stars instead of five stars for these two reasons:

(Con #1): The colors are bright and annoying and definitely don't match my kitchen! I would have greatly preferred white, gray, dark grey, black, and brown for the "color coding of the sizes" which is why I think they've made them all different colors (to make it easier to find the size you want).

(Con #2): They can warp if try to fit too much in the clip and then leave it that way. Then later, when you put something flat in it, it might not seal very tightly.

PS: I've been using these clips for five years now.

Just Having One Makes You Want More !

I actually bought these August of 2014, I just jumped on Amazon to make sure they were still available to recommend to a friend. I used to buy the Twixit clips but these are so much more affordable, look almost identical and work perfectly. The assortment of sizes in a package of Bevara is 30 and less than $7. I think the Twixit clips are sold on Amazon for 20 clips for over $8.00. Twixit clips on Pampered Chef there is only 10 clips for $6.50. Bevara Clips are very affordable !!

Yes I use them for chips, open boxes of cereal, open boxes of crackers, open large bags of frozen veggies, open loaves of bread and or rolls. open bags of cookies, my bag of frozen chicken nuggets, hamburger patties, french fries, tater tots (I can comfortably buy large quantities now knowing I can keep them fresh). I could go on with uses but I'm sure you get the idea. Anything that needs to be sealed and kept fresh there is a perfect size in this assortment of Bevara Sealing clip. Just fold the top of the bag into a V fold over and clip, it is that quick and easy. I haven't had one break in over a year. I have sent some home with friends who then bought their own, just having one makes you want more!

Finding the Bevara Sealing clips less expensive than Twixit on Amazon or Pampered Chefs allows me to buy more things to clip and keep fresh. :)

June 2016 update: These still continue to be a favorite not only of mine but of anyone that sees or uses them when in my home. I can't tell you how many sets I've given away. Still love them after all these years of use.

Clip Joint

I am making these work. A diagram on how to make the small clips work on anything other than a piece of bubble gum would be helpful. I feel likeI am in origami class folding NORMAL size bags so that I can force a smaller clip on them.

Yeah, I get it, don't use smaller clip on NORMAL bag. Ok, then what should I use smaller clip on, and why did I pay for so many small clips that appear to be near useless?

Cheaper than other brands, but stiffer and lighter weight as well. So far so good.

We've been using other brands of this product (pampered chef and twixit) for many years but our preschooler took it upon himself to break them so it was time to buy more. This Ikea product is very similar except that they're lighter weight and stiffer (not as much give to the plastic). At this price of only five dollars they're less than half the price I paid for those other brands and so far we're very pleased with them. If we find that over time they don't hold up well enough then I'll update this review. So far, so good.

great bag clips!

I just love these. I bought a couple packs at IKEA years ago and use them on EVERYTHING. Since I don't have an IKEA nearby now, I ordered from amazon. They seal tight and are easy to use. I have a big mason jar on my counter I keep them in so they are always handy. They even work great on bags of frozen food. I haven't had a single one break in the 6 years I have had them. I just ran out because I used them up.

Functional and compact

I was excited about these clips because of the ridges on them, thinking it would create a better seal to keep food fresh. These clips work very well on most of the bags I've used them on (chips, sandwich bags, etc.) and I like that there was an assortment of sizes and colors. I also like how compact they are, especially since I often use them on bags of frozen vegetables (no more having regular bag clips fall off or get caught on the freezer basket, causing a mess). I do not know how well they will hold up over time given that they're only secured with a plastic hinge that fits over a small plastic notch, and that they may become bowed (and less efficient at sealing) over time if used on bulky bags.

If I lived near an IKEA, I probably would have bought them there for much cheaper. But I don't live anywhere near an IKEA, so I didn't mind having to pay ~$7 or $8, which included two-day shipping costs, to get them on here.
