While the intro "Chicken Coop" is corny and goes on for way too long, it somehow doesn't detract from the overall vibe and brisk pace of this great CD. These are 12 tight tracks, all brilliantly produced, somewhat derivative at times, but a pleasure to blast from your car or in your headphones. "The Promise" is probably my favorite track of all, a thumping, percussive track produced by and featuring Havoc of Mobb Deep.
The fine chemistry between these 2 MC's and their fluid delivery are flawless. "Get Me Home", a smooth, R&B laced collaboration with Blackstreet manages to be radio friendly without sounding watered down. "No One's" is another soul-flavored jam that samples an old 80's jam, but breathes new life into it and Foxy's understated flow compliments the lush backing track to perfection. The album's other big hit ("I'll Be" featuring Jay-Z)ends the LP on a high note and is another collaboration made in hip-hop heaven! Her 2 follow-ups have been less consistent, but when she debuted in 1996 with this fine collection, Foxy Brown raised the stakes for female MC's everywhere. Few have managed to live up to the challenge, including Ms. Brown herself. Personally, I'm awaiting another masterpiece.

Seriously, this is a great Debut by a female rapper. This is the best female rapper out their---Lil'Kim can't touch The Ill NaNa--and wha! --Get me home and Ill be--the singles are off the chain--Ill na na and holy matrimony--are so tight and great jamming for the car--Please cop this--and dont forget about "chyna Doll" by foxy--10X better than her debut--which is rare to all artists--usually the 1st is better--but chyna doll kicks it--Ill Na NA is da bomb also

The production is just dope yo!!! I've been listening to a lot of female rap lately. At this time in life, I just want some inspiration. I got tired of listening to the generic, cliche pop love songs and just want something different and more aggressive. Been checking out Eve, Lil Kim, Foxy, and Trina. I would say that Foxy is my favorite one by far. Then, Lil Kim, Nicki Minaj, and Missy follow closely after her. Foxy is beautiful, raw, fierce, and don't take any mess from anyone. Many people compare to this album to Lil Kim's Hardcore since they both came out around the same time. I do like a few songs from Hardcore, but I definitely prefer the Ill Na Na all the way because Foxy raps about other things other than sex and her "nana", unlike Lil Kim. Plus, the production and songs have an overall more replay value where I feel like it's much more addicting and easier to rock to. I enjoy hearing the intro and outro. It really adds, introduces, and illustrates more into what her stage name is all about. The way people would pit Foxy against Lil Kim is very much like Britney and Christina. It's like Lil Kim is the "Britney" of hip hop because she has much more impact whereas Foxy is more like "Christina", very underrated. Does not get much recognition and respect as the former. As much as I really like both Foxy and Lil Kim, I'm always rooting for the underdogs so I choose Foxy. The Ill Na Na is my #1 favorite female rap album. I think hip hop listeners and people who feeling nostalgic about the 90s should get this album. And for people who are worried and overly sensitive to the profanity and sexual content, I'll say that this one is pretty mild to the rest of her albums. You have to decide for yourself whether it's necessary to get the clean version or not.

My top 5:
1. If I
2. I'll Be
3. Get Me Home
4. Fox Boogie
5. No One's

Foxy stormed into the hip-hop world with this 1996 release. And thank God she did. This album gave us a good taste of the REAL Foxy Brown with her very deep vocals here. This album was recorded and released on the bright side of her career. She had Lil' Kim (See "Ill Na Na" ..."Waitin for Kim' album to drop...knowin' its hot") She had Jay-Z (See production and author notes) and she was happy (the whole damn CD...except maybe If I...) SO-Heres the thing. If you are a happy person who is a fan of Lil' Kim and Jay-Z as well-You'll love this. If you want something with more of a bite-Then go for "Broken Silence" and watch her use the same flow w. more lyrical content. Overall-A good CD.

This album is classic Fox, although the intro and outro are annoying, and at a first listen had me thinking I bought a wack album, the tracks make a quick rebound. Although I listen to all the tracks now, a few of them had to grow on me. Other then the intro and outro there really isn't a low point on the album or a bad track, but a couple of the songs are huge stand outs. I like this album more then Chyna Doll but it's not quite as good as Broken Silence, although you get the feel that this album is who she is, Broken Silence tells you why she is what she is. This albums stand outs are I'll Be and Holy Matrimony, but the other tracks are tight as well.

Wow it's hard to believe that this album came out 10 years ago already, I was just going through my CD collection yesterday and I was playing this and it still sounds just as live as it did when I first heard it back then, my favorite tracks on here are "Gotta Get You Home", "Ill Na Na", "Foxy's Bells", "I'll Be", and "If I", I really hope that she could get past all of her troubles off the mic and put out another album 'cause she's one of the best female rappers ever, much love Foxy keep ya head up baby
