Although this Bible has the entirety of the ESV text (a translation that I love), it does not have a concordance in the back. I do love having that handy index that helps me when I’m sitting in Sunday School thinking about a particular text…and I cannot for the life of me remember the reference. Sure, my Bible app can search for me…but I’m still a paper Bible kind of girl.
Along the same lines, this Bible also doesn’t have cross-references or footnotes. I do so love to know where Scripture texts are cross-referenced, and if I’m using this Bible, I have to access another resource to find out this information.
Beauty. There are many beautiful gold illustrations throughout, including full-page illustrations. Dana Tanamachi designed a full-page illustration for the beginning of each book of the Bible, and she has provided an explanation for the way she designed each of these particular pages at the back of the book.
Also, though I wouldn’t call these *thick* pages, they are thicker pages than the tissue-paper-thin pages of most Bibles. The text is single-column and the margins are wide. These things are super helpful for those of you who are artsy-fartsy Bible journalers. 😉 I wish I was talented in this arena, but even I have loved the extra room for notetaking.
This particular Bible comes with a hard, cloth-covered cover in a permanent slipcover box.
This is a spectacular journaling/art Bible. It’s a beautiful, creative way to read and meditate on God’s Word.
It’s not a study Bible. As I mentioned above, there aren’t concordances, cross-references, footnotes…There are no study notes or maps. But of course, all of these things are accessible elsewhere.
The only negative thing I can think of is how thin the pages are, like most in Bibles. Unfortunately the beautiful artwork throughout it is visible through the pages, so it makes me afraid to actually use any pen to take notes in it.
Overall, the gold is so beautiful and I'm recommending it to everyone while it's still on sale. Also, something I wasn't expecting was on the back cover, it shares a beautiful and simple quote, "The unfolding of Your Words gives Light." -Psalm 119:130.
I tried painting on it using watercolor. The paper tend to crumple. It’s part of journaling so I don’t really mind. 😊
If you’re an artist, then this is the Bible for you. There are gorgeous illustrations on the sides of the pages of this Bible. You can even add to color to the illustrations already in the Bible as well. Plus, there’s tons of space along the sides for you to add your own notes or illustrations. The whole purpose of this Bible is to engage you with the Word of God and for you to worship which I love.
The Bible is kinda large and heavy for everyday use, I would still use it as part of my quiet time when I’m at home. There are over 1600 pages! The pages are smooth and creme colored so it’s quality paper. The paper is thin so if you use markers, it may bleed through. I’m a colored pencil person so I haven’t tested too much else on it yet.
If you’re looking for a Christmas present for a loved one, this would make a great gift! It’s a beautiful and quality Bible.

Nice binding, she was pleased.
Just that the pages were kind of too thin for me as some pen bleed through.
