iperEspresso Capsule System

Unlike conventional one-stage systems, the iperEspresso capsule system uses a two stage extraction process to create an exceptional, full bodied espresso that bursts with rich aromas. During the first stage, water enters the capsule, saturating the coffee which allows flavors to develop and intensify. In the second stage, the coffee exits through a valve specially designed to enhance the body and aroma while also creating a velvety crema topping. Both stages occur directly inside the capsule never letting the coffee come in contact with the machine, meaning virtually no mess or clean up.

Discover your favorite espresso.

I like to pull my own espressos with a Breville 15 bar pump machine, which is a process starting with selecting the bean, grinding it just right, measuring and tamping with the right amount of pressure...to get the perfect super strong, black gold and crema without the bitterness of starbucks garbage, and more flavorful than those Kcup dishwater coffees. I guess I'm a coffee snob, but I don't like that label - I just love a good espresso and won't waste my time drinking sub par coffee.

This machine matches my brews and needs perfectly...in fact the espresso is strong enough to give me a momentary buzz and when I close my eyes it takes me back to those dingy little side street cafes in Portugal and Italy that made the best espressos around the world.

If you are looking for true, european espresso, get this machine.

Excellent espresso made easy. No cleanup. Pulls a shot in less than two minutes. I tried the comparable Nespresso and Keurig machines, this one wins hands down for quality. Subscribe through Amazon, or directly from illy and have your coffee delivered to your door. There's a limited coffee selection compared to the other two major systems, but who cares? The illy coffee varieties are all first rate and excellent, something you can't say that about the others. It is also small, and very well made. A modern design in aluminum and glass. It is the sexiest appliance on my kitchen counter. Worth every penny.

Nice product I have no complaints, fast shipping and good espresso. good for making those coffee drinks you pay 5.00 each in a coffee shop for a little bit less.. the espresso runs about 80¢ to 1.00 each shot

Fairly priced, super easy to use, consistent, well built...
Some products just do what they say they do and do it extremely well. This one does!
Illy isn't the cheapest option, but it has that pure coffee taste.
Will cost around $1 per drip.
It doesn't just look great, it taste great.

Absolutely happy with purchased and would / have recommended to my coffee loving friends

I've been using the Illy coffee for years with my Krups expresso machine. Hands down the best grind (I bought the pre ground) for an expresso machine. So my wife purchased this machine as a gift for me knowing I truly enjoy their coffee. The positives:
The coffee produced from this machine is very good. Hot, little crema on top, not bitter.
Just add hot water to change from an expresso drink to a cup of coffee
easy clean up: few water drips here and there
takes up a small amount of space
machine body heavy duty
The negatives:
pods are very small and for me you need two shots to make a decent size cup of coffee
pods kind of expensive for what you get. Much less to buy the Illy coffee and make my own shots (takes longer, of course)
(there is a you tube video on refilling the pods but have not tried this yet)
THIS IS A BIG one: more than occasionally, a pod (usually decaf) becomes clogged not allowing hot water to pass through. If youre having this problem, try this: insert the pod and puncture it by closing the lever a couple of times. Then slowly open the lid and put your finger behind the pod so it doesn't fall into the used pod bin. Rotate the pod about a half turn, then close the lid again (couple times to puncture well). Then hit start. This has been successful for me thus far.
The device which sends the used pods to the used container is a bit flimsy .. definitely not a dealbreaker though.

Love this easy to use espresso machine. First experienced using this machine at a resort in Mexico.
The only 2 draw backs...I have to order coffee on line and I can't recycle the coffee pods.

Beautiful machine. I bought it after my brother got a black version. When he came to visit, he was jealous of my white one. I've had it a couple of months now with barely any trouble though sometimes it has a tendency to splatter more than I'd like or it doesn't discard the used pod properly. I'm hoping illy will come out with more varieties of flavors. The red one is my favorite so far.

It's difficult to separate the machine from the coffee because, essentially, buying this machine means you are committed to only ever drinking Illy coffee. I'll try to give comments on both the coffee and the machine.

The machine: It's a showpiece for sure. It's heavy, nice quality and seems to justify its price. I've only had it for a couple weeks so I can't comment on durability. That being said, you do sacrifice some function for the sake of form. As others have said, the water tank is limited and the used pod tray fills fast. Not only does it fill fast, but if you wait until it's completely full, it can jam and be hard to wiggle out. The cup warmer is a novelty and really doesn't do much unless you leave the machine on and use it constantly throughout the day.

The coffee: This is where I was most let down. I have tried Nespresso, Keurig, Dolce Gusto and now Illy (in addition to trying a conventional espresso machine). I travel to Italy twice a year and spend a total of 4-6 weeks there and I keep trying to reproduce the coffee at home. It seems like I'm chasing an unattainable dream at this point. I bought EVERY SINGLE POD that Illy sells in the US: the dark, medium and lungo. I bought all the monoarabica pods: India, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Colombia, Costa Rica and Brazil. I tried them as lungo and ristretto; I played with the water levels and used bottled water. Nothing I could do could make me like this coffee with the exception of actually adding cream and sugar: a huge NO NO for espresso! The problem is that they all, in varying levels, have a sourness and unacceptable acidity. The dark roast is probably the closest to drinkable out of them all. I have the same issue with Nespresso: sour sour sour.... blah!
