This is a pretty catchy tune laced with heavy Scottish accents. All about what a man would do for his woman . . . like walk 500 miles . . . and then walk 500 more. Good stuff.

One thing, though, is there's a line in the song that sounds like "And when I havel, I'll be havellin' to you. . . ." No idea what that means. If it's "haver" I still don't know.

"I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by the Proclaimers is about as high energy as a pop song can be. Positive lyrics, intense beat, great singing and musicianship help keep this song on my running playlist workout after workout.

Scottish identical twins, Charlie and Craig Reid -- these two brothers harmonize and sing off of each other well. Though only a modest hit in America, hitting #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1988, it lives on as a stadium anthem in Scotland, and in pubs everywhere.

It is a schmaltzy love song with a catchy refrain. If that's OK with you, give it a listen.

"And when I come home(When I come home), yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home with you."

There is just something fun and happy about this great song that withstands the test of time. Year after year and cover after cover by various artists, the original is still the best. True love doesn't have to be sappy or soft - it can be 500 miles of toe tapping, roadtripping, sing along simple joy.

I plan to walk 1,000 miles this year, and I tried to think of music to motivate me when this song came to mind... then a couple of days later I heard it on the radio and thought to myself, "Self... You need to buy this song!" So, I did.

I have always liked this song, and I don't know why I never bought it before, but now it is in my walking play list, and I expect it to bring me hours of pleasure over the years.

If you like it, buy it... If you don't... why not give it another listen anyway, it might grow on you!

By the way, igf you search for "I would walk 500 miles" in the Amazon MP3 store, this doesn't show up, but several covers of it do. Some of those clips sound pretty interesting too... maybe I'll download them all, and have a play list of nothing but different versions of this song... nah, why mess with it. :)

I have purchased over 100 songs in the last two months after marathoning "Grey's Anatomy." The music directors of the series should be given awards for their choices. Even when the self-righteous hypocritical characters irritate me, the music continues to draw me back. I have also been introduced to so many new artist and their music beyond the show.

I bought this after watching David Tennant's wrap party from Doctor Who (on YouTube). He was listed as their biggest fan. I also use this song as the ringtone for my granddaughter (who I got hooked on Doctor Who).

Great catchy, road trip song. I wouldn't know how to dance on it, but it has good, memorable lyrics, and a beat that makes you want to nod your head and stomp your feet (Just pictured how I would dance to it, it is possible). You can't be too serious and listen to this one.
