I'm Not a Scaredy-Cat is a new book for kids written by Max Lucado and it's incredibly cute, humorous, and helps to teach kids about trusting God. According to the back of the book, it's based on Philippians 4:6-9, which talks about not being afraid about anything and instead presenting your requests to God. The main character in the book is a cat who is a big and strong cat. This cat isn't a scaredy-cat except when certain things happen like a marching band plays loudly and an elephant sneezes, just to name a couple. The cat learns to say a short prayer to help get over these fears and it's stated three times in the book. The words also rhyme so the story flows nicely and makes it fun to read!
We purchased the board book and it is already a hit in our house! It measures 8 inches by 8 inches by 3/4 inches and contains 22 pages. My daughter loves the cat, the funny animals, and of course, the pink donut pictured on the front cover, which makes an appearance in the story! My son enjoys the story as well although he's not into it as much as his sister. Still, I feel it's well-worth buying and I love how it teaches kids to turn to God when they are scared. We are happy with our purchase and highly recommend it!
