Having just finished The Last Testament a Memoir by God, I was in the mood for another satirical look at religion. I picked up Brian Hoggs' book knowing it was a humors look at the Christian creator. At least I thought it would be humors look.
I found nothing funny about this book. Hogg's God seems to be an angry teen, apologizing only because he has to. I am not even sure why Hogg feels his character has anything to be sorry for. He plays his god off as a victim of circumstance, nothing is truly his fault. The book is not funny and the character is so unlikable there really is no reason to read it.
Maybe I would view the book in a better light had I not read David Javerbaum's first. His is a better book with a more likeable god. Or, maybe I just don't get Hogg's comedy style. All I know, is that I cannot recommend this book.

Brian Hogg tosses out gems like this book with incredible ease, he should have a huge following. If only this was a fair world. Thank you God.

If you're irreverent, a smart ass or cynical of organized religion, please read this humble apology... Hell it's a confession.

Delightful depiction of the mind behind Our Ever (Not-So) Loving God. If the Bible were this well-written and studded with wit, atheism would not exist. The story is thought-provoking and manages to elicit sympathy for a much-loathed character in unexpected ways. I will never view my catechism in the same way again.

Deserving of a presence in hotel rooms around the world next to Gideon.

I have never laughed out loud so much while reading! Irreverent, thought provoking and well based in Christian theology. Skip this book if you think the Bible is the divine word of God. Read this book if you've ever thought God sure seemed mean!
