Watched it over 100 times frame by frame Can count the number of gun shots by how many times pedestrians flinch and the camera shacks . Its more than 3.Pedestrians react to gunshots before president gets shot. Frames in this film version are missing. As the frames are numbered they do not appear to have been rearranged as some people say.Raises doubts of a lone gunman, makes you a witness to murder. If this interests you you may want to look up official autopsy photos ,photos of the limo just after the event.Other photos of Dealy plaza on the day of .The rifle Dallas police walk out of the school book depository is different than the one Oswald is photographed with in his back hard. The official Dallas police report that Oswald did not fire a rifle .Way to much physical evidence to think there was not something slim shady going on.

I bought this DVD many years ago and it is very good in showing the original 8mm film in very fine detail. One thing has always bothered me, however, and I'm hoping that someone can clarify this. As the fellow at the National Archive says, the film is removed from the camera half-way through the roll and re-inserted in the camera so that the other half of the 16mm frame can then be exposed. Wouldn't removing the film from the camera ruin the film?

This is the story of "The Greatest Home Movie of All Time." The 26-second silent color film showing the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas. From the afterthought decision of Dallas dressmaker Abraham Zapruder to bring his 8-millimeter home movie camera to work that fateful Friday morning--to the relentless but tasteful pursuit of the film by Life magazine's Richard Stolley...this documentary traces the story. Also included are some memorable features of the film's first airing on national television in 1975 and recently digitized versions of the film itself.

The transfer to digital of this most memorable event in American History is virtually stunning. The Zapruder film has been "upgraded" and reveals quite a bit of never-been-able-to-see" footage of what will remain one of America's 8MM footage from a home camera. There is MORE documentation of the actual digital conversion than there is of the actual event itself. I am happy I purchased it for that reason. The film doesn't make any inferences as to conspiracies or theories about the Assassination. If you're buy it for that reason, you will be disappointed. You will however, be delighted to actually SEE the Zapruder footage as it was meant to be seen / evaluated.

Simply put, this is a documentary of the creation of & the process of restoring & preserving the most incredible home movie ever filmed for future generations. No agenda of politics or theories of conspiracy are extolled here. It is a straight forward documentary of the journey of a piece of film. I first saw it on tv with Geraldo Rivera over 40 years ago & it was a multi-generation grainy bootlegged copy that was broadcast. The finished restoration quality by comparison is amazing. Plus, the little bit of background story you get about Mr. Abraham Zapruder is interesting as well. Be advised that the film shows a murder event in graphic detail & may be quite upsetting when viewed.

This has a very short history of the physical footage taken of the assassination, and it gives you four viewing options of that footage. This video is about the footage, not about Kennedy or his presidency.

A very interesting DVD which unfortunately did not discuss the obvious alterations of the original Zapruder film. According to ALL of the doctors and staff that treated JFK at Parkland Hospital, there was little evidence of a wound on the front of JFK's head but that there was a large hole (exit wound) at the back of his head. This scenario is supported by the fact that some of his head tissue landed on the trunk of his limousine, which Jackie attempted to retrieve. The film shows only a wound on the right side of his head.

One reviewer said this film made a believer out of him that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone gunman, because, as the film clearly shows there is no damage to back of Kennedy's head, next to his right ear. And he is right. No matter how times we see Kennedy, and we always see him from the right profile, this area is always darkened, even in the bright sunlight. Even when the President is propelled backwards, this area of his head always remains darkened. One visual expert has said that this is not a NATURAL black. And since one of he motorcycle policemen BEHIND Kennedy had his windshield hit with such a force of the President's brain matter, he thought he had been shot himself, and the fact that ALL the doctors and nurses who tried to save Kennedy's life at Parkland hospital tell of the massive wound to this area, help make this case get more convoluted, instead of clearer-the way things usually happen.....On the plus side, its good to have the Zapruder film in such good shape, mysteriously missing fames and all. (Watch the little girl across the street before the car disappears briefly behind the Stemmons freeway sign. When she stops running, you can bet your life she heard gunfire. Did the missing frames reveal a bullet hitting the Stemmons sign? It was removed quickly after the events of that Nov. day. Why?) Just remember when watching, that in the "original" version, before the film is blown up and repositiond, that when the camera jiggles and the film blurs, it is probably Zapruder reacting to the sound of gunfire. And how curious is it that Zapruder stood up on top of that marble ledge that jettisoned all the way out to the sidewalk, yet positioned himself and his secretary all the way to the rear with their backs against the columns and with no one else in front of them? And on and on it goes.
