My 4-yr-old daughter is currently very into RC and electronic toys so I got this for her because of its cool transforming & sound effect functionalities. As expected, she was delighted by it and she's having a blast with it.
The remote controller is very light and designed well for smaller children's hands. She had no trouble holding it comfortably and using it to control the Batmobile.
Although the toy is made of light & cheap-feeling plastic, it looks well-built and durable. The transforming part works reliably without any glitches. So did the disc launcher I wish I could manually control with a separate button. As it is, the discs will always launch whenever the Batmobile transforms and there is no way to stop the discs from being fired.
The talking robotic voice fits with the theme of the Batmobile but there isn't a lot of variety. During quieter times, it sounds pretty loud so I was hoping for some sort of volume adjustment. Unfortunately, there isn't one. Not even a Mute button.
As for how it moves, I was surprised to find out that none of the four exterior wheels are actually powered by the motor. Instead, there are two tires underneath the body that propel the Batmobile. They aren't too large and, as a result, they had difficulty getting traction on our medium-thick carpet. The Batmobile scooted along just fine most of the time but it would get stuck once in a while. Rotation was almost impossible. Driving the toy on smooth surfaces is definitely the preferred way for faster speeds and better control.
Perhaps I'm expecting too much from a children's toy but due to its $70 price point, I expected more fine-tuning options. In the end, however, my daughter loves it and she doesn't notice the flaws like I do. 😃
_____
*Pros:
-Lots of plastic but well-built and durable.
-Remote controller is responsive and works well. It's light enough for children.
-Transforming part looks cool and the kids loved it.
_____
*Neutral:
-I wish the discs wouldn't fire automatically after transforming. There should've been a separate trigger/button for the discs.
-I wish there was sound volume adjustment and/or a Mute button.
_____
*Cons:
-The four exterior tires are not powered by the motor. The "real" tires are underneath the car and they have difficulty getting traction on my medium-thick carpet.
-Quite expensive at $70. For what it offers, I think $30 would've been a fair price.
