About the Author

William Durland holds a B.A. in political science and history, an M.A. in Biblical Theology and a Ph.D. in Religious and Political Philosophy. He is also an attorney with a J.D. degree and extensive experience in international and civil rights law. His unique perspective on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is created by the marriage of his solid academic background in history, politics, law and religion with his personal, on-the-ground experience working with grassroots peace and justice movements in Israel and the Occupied Territories over a period of 30 years. His legal career, spanning over 50 years, includes service in the Virginia State Legislature where he participated in landmark anti-segregation legislative efforts and work with several national presidential campaign staffs. A second, overlapping teaching career has included law, theology and philosophy at such prestigious institutions as Villanova, Notre Dame, Purdue, and at graduate seminaries and community college systems. His personal "ministry of presence" in the Middle East has been informed and empowered by these studies and experiences. --This text refers to the paperback edition.
