The Immortal Circus: Final Act (Cirque des Immortels Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 1,423 ratings

The riveting final book in the seductively magical Cirque des Immortels trilogy.

Despite Vivienne’s broken heart and deadly truths, the show must go on at the Cirque des Immortels. But it takes more than glamour and sex appeal to keep the Big Top running; without the magic and support Viv came to rely on, the circus is in danger. Now the troupe verges on rebellion, the war between Mab and Oberon rages on, and a horrifying menace looms—with Vivienne stuck in the middle of it all.

When Mab’s manipulations put others at risk, Viv has to decide where her heart lies. Everything depends on her choices. How can she know her true desires? And will she have what it takes to fight the demons she must face?

New possibilities and old passions collide in this ravishing grand finale to the trilogy that began with The Immortal Circus and The Immortal Circus: Act Two.

This book was initially released in episodes as a Kindle Serial. All episodes are now available for immediate download as a complete book.

Wow I really enjoyed this series a lot and it ended with such a bang! I really enjoyed living in the world of the Immortal Circus, despite how bloody it is.

I loved this series... based on originality alone it is a 5 star series. This act was the best out of all of them with the exception of the last page. I literally took off 2 stars based off of about 4 paragraphs. For such an amazingly written series it had by far one of the worst endings I have ever read and I read a lot. I think the ending would have been easier to swallow if the series its self was bad. But the humungous sense of disappointment left by this horrible ending was amplified by the fact of how awesome the series its self was. A horrible ending to a horrible series is expected, a horrible ending to a magnificent series leaves you feeling empty....

As you can probably tell, I am feeling a bit let down...

*************** EDIT *******************

The author did update the book and add an epilogue to it. Although its still far from what I expected the end of this book to be it is still leaps better than what it was. The new epilogue ties up a few loose ends and gives you an idea of what happens to the characters. I still feel it could have been much better but I am not feeling as let down as I did. I am not very happy with the outcome of the main character but such is life; you cant expect to be thrilled about the conclusion of every story. I changed my rating from 3 stars to 4 stars because of the new Epilogue.

Mr. Kahler, over all congratulations on an excellent series of books that I will definitely recommend to other readers. I will keep an eye for anything else you may publish.

The writing was good and the story was compelling.I thought this series was a new and innovative look into the world of fey but the ending has left a bad taste in my mouth. So many of the issues within the book were left unresolved and I thought the main character struggled the whole series only to end up back where she began...very frustrating. No spoilers, but these books had so much potential and now I am left completely unsatisfied and somewhat in the dark about what really happens to our leading lady.

In this final installment of the Cirque des Immortels, the bad situation begins by getting worse. Vivienne is now the ringmaster of the Circus, but she doesn’t have access to the contracts or much of anything else, and the staff is ready to mutiny.

Austin, the man who loved Vivienne in her earlier life as a human has joined the circus. Kingston is still dead.

Kassia is coming closer and closer to breaking out again. And Oberon is sending three more demons.

Mab explains to Vivienne how Oberon created all the demons – and then blamed her for it.

Vivienne’s only choice appears to be to return to Summer and try to bring Kingston back to life. On her way to try, she stumbles into another of the mysterious faerie-lands where a pixie shows her what life with Austin would be like and what life with Kingston would be like. Neither option is without its problems. The pixie then offers her the option of staying in her dream-world where she can have both at the same time, but at the price of not saving the rest of the world.

Vivienne passes on that scenario, but that still leaves her with the problem of how she is to save Kingston and defeat the demons, and what she will do after.

My only problem with this book was there was a little too much messing with demons and running around in faery, and not enough of the actual circus.

I start with a *sigh*... Overall I genuinely loved this series. I love this world, this story, these characters. I was transported. So let's get to this book specifically. I too, as a fan, felt a bit sucker punched at the end. I was gearing up for an epic battle between Summer & Winter & the demons. I was ready for the showdown between Lillith & Vivienne. I sat on the edge of my seat, biting my nails only to be rather let down. With the sweeping of fingers an easy out appears and the ending has no fire before it fizzles out to ashes & brimstone. Oh why or why... This was an opportunity to blow us away and I so wish... well, I just wish... What happened to Oberon? His demons? Why did Mel bring Viv & her family to Mab? They were friends. Lilith, an adult? that doesn't make sense... So much was left unfinished. Austin? I'm just a bit confused. Overall, all the above being said, this is a great series. The author has a great imagination. I will be on the look out for the next book(s) by A.R. Kahler.

Being an aerial artist myself, I really enjoyed reading a story based mainly in a circus atmosphere. Add in the Fae mythology, magic and all of that, this was right up my alley. I started from the beginning of this trilogy and will say that I didn't expect it to take the turns that it did, but I really enjoyed them all. There was only one point that made me cringe (during the Salem Witch Trials, no one was ever burned, only hanged and one man was crushed to death) but otherwise I thought the entire series was very clever, well thought out, a little twisted and a little dark, which are all aspects that I really liked. Thank you for a very good read!

I love the way that Mr. Kahler draws you into his stories, his mind is intoxicating, where his words can invoke exciting worlds and characters that make you feel their apprehension or tension in the situations that the characters are in. This last installation is written as a serial, which means you are given little nips a few chapters at a time, which for someone who is as voracious as I am for the continuing story can be almost unbearable! Alas, I knew what I was signing on for when I grabbed this last book and with patience less than saintly I check my Kindle constantly for a few more words from Mr. Kahler and his Immortal Circus. You cannot go wrong in buying anything that this Author writes in my opinion, I am reading his short story, A Child of Wight, as we speak and am equally enthralled, so while we are waiting for the next installment of this book, may I suggest devouring the short story while we cool our heels. Keep them coming good sir, I am blessed in reading your works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Final Act
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 11, 2016
Have you ever started a book and been transported instantly to a land of make believe by the end of the first sentence? being consumed by each and every letter on the as page time is suspended and reality ceases to exist? Yes? then welcome to the world of Cirque des Immortels.

A debut, this is the first adult novel that Kalher has written introducing us to the world of his colourful characters, vivid colours, magic and mayhem. This is the first novel I have read by Kalher and after finishing that last sentence I purchased Act Two and Act Three and divulged immediately onto the next saga.

My imagination played a very important role as I read through this novel, I had a sense of belonging, feeling I was the living the storyline along with the characters or at the very least watching them on set or as a film. The storyline was magnetic it drew me close and left me hungry for more. This novel was more to me that a storyline, I had ran away to the circus joined the characters and lived in the moment. During reading this series I began to collate a pinterest board of anything carnival theme, simply to visualise the imagery running riot in my mind, always having had an appreciation for the art form of the circus I now put visuals to words whilst reading Kalher's novel which really brought the story to life.

I agree with many reviews that imply this work could sit between a Young Adult / Adult category but to be fair I enjoy YA reads as much as any. The story is very fantasy based with a dark foreboding edge, a dark menace underlining complete with a paranormal hue.

The characters are so varied. Mab, the 'ringmaster' is a fiery creature if ever there was one, she is one to be wary of, playing a very dominant role throughout I imagine she is certainly very young mans ideal dream woman, she portrays the 'dominatrix' persona very efficiently indeed.

The plot of this debut novel revolves around Viviene. We discover about her past and her relationship within the circus, is she simply a pawn in the bigger picture? is she made of stern stuff and destined for bigger things? As the series progresses so does Vivien, she endures an extremely unique journey, most certainly one to behold with twists and turns you do not see coming a mile away.

Of course, there is the loving budding romance, now who doesn't love a good romance, but is this really as it seems? is there an ulterior motive and does Kingston really feel the same way? what about Mab or Melody how do they feel about him?

We must not forget the magic, there is plenty of magic too.

If you love the circus or circus themed stories these are for you, if you want to live in a total fantasy based world for a few hours, step right up, a unique trilogy that keeps you rooted to the page and turning them twice as fast.

Not for everyone, but if you can appreciate the arts, the magic and something a little out of the ordinary give this series a whirl. I can't recommend them enough. In my opinion Kalher has captured this world of magic and mystery perfectly....including murder and love.

I am running off to join the circus....

I enjoyed this series, not my usual genre but a quick read and pretty original. I didn't know how the author would end the book and usually I can tell what's coming so I was surprised. It wasn't a happy ending and I like stories that aren't wrapped up with a pretty bow where everyone is happy. I like that it is left open in case a 4th book wants to get thrown into the mix the option is there. I'd recommend this to someone who likes a little supernatural in their novels and wanting for something different than possession and ghosts.
