It's fraught with spelling, typos, and punctuation errors. It made it distracting. By the time the opening scene got to the taxi ride, I had counted 20 mistakes. I was 5 pages in.
"She was 24, and the closes..."
It should be closest.
A page later. "Her friend hat acted..."
It should be had acted.
"What captivated her where his..."
It should be were.
"Her body was in the age..."
It should be her body was at the age.
All these little things made you stop the reading to play 'What does the author mean"? It was irritating.
A ton of paragraphs started with A moment later, or instantly, but weren't punctuated correctly. They needed a comma. This is basic grammar. There were run on sentences too. Lots of them.
I wanted to enjoy this book, but it's a mess. I'm sorry, but I'm being honest.
Some sentences would start with 'she nodded' and then the dialog wouldn't be capitalized. For that to be correct, someone has to be speaking. Nodding is NOT speaking.
This book really needs a professional editing before it's touted as a 5 star read. Here is proof that not all writers can edit their own writing. If this was professionally edited, complain and get a refund.
I'm not sure how it got 5 stars unless the readers are friends, or unless they don't care to read edited books.
I really hope the author pulls this, cleans it up, and fixes it before it chases away other readers with its bad editing.
"Just a moment miss."
Miss needs a comma before it when you're talking to someone.
All of this ruined the experience.
In this case, I think this is an author I'll just avoid. It's definitely not my cup of unedited tea.
