The anthology contains 21 stories, each by a different author. In each the writer takes on the voice of a character from Greek mythology, and reimagines what adventures they would have in the modern world.
Needless to say, it is highly entertaining. Especially for someone like me, who loves myths and lore from around the world, this was a very satisfying read indeed! I especially enjoyed reading the stories that were connected to each other.
There is quite a bit of blood and gore in some of the stories, and many of them are positively spine chilling. But not all of them are stories that will scare the daylights out of you. Some are hopeful, others are kind. After all, the Gods are human too.
Tragedy in Moonlight, by Renee Christian; The Deep Wild by C J Landry; The Sword of Perseus by Wayne Davids; Thanatos and The House At The End of The World by Marc Tizura; Sweet Dolly by Aisling MacKay, The Monster Within by Rainbow Brubaker; Time to Fly by Georgia Moody; Darkness Falls by Jennifer Morton; Star-Crossed by Melody Wingfield; A Soul for A Soul by Rashmi Menon; and Mermaid's Tale by Nikki Crump-Hansted, are some of the stories from the book that I enjoyed the most.
This is not to say that the other stories aren't a great read -- they absolutely are!
Immortal Fears is a truly fantastical read, and perfect for the Halloween season.
You won't be disappointed with this collection of short stories that paint a grander picture of a growing universe...look forward to the next!

In general, the problem with a short story collection is that not all stories will resonate with you. For the most part, the quality of the stories were good to very good. One can especially emphasize that characters who also appear in other stories felt the same. Here the respective writers have managed to transfer the essence of the character into their own stories.
On a very personal level, I had problems with the direct form of addressing the reader that keeps cropping up. This is not a style that suits me because I had the feeling that I was torn from the events and the flow of reading. I also found the overarching theme not well implemented in some of the stories.
All in all it was a good book that presented interesting ideas about the Greek gods, especially in modern times. And if you haven't had enough after reading the book, you can fortunately find more stories on the group's website. The same applies to this as to the book. Not all of them will appeal to you, but there are very creative minds behind them.
