Book two picks up soon after the life changing—or should I say ending—events of the first book in the series, and let’s just say Aria’s life is about to get a whole lot more complicated. Changed in a fundamental way she’s now got to deal with new abilities and desires, all of which she never asked for…on top of the problems she was already dealing with—unruly magic, witch hunters trying to kill her, and a bit of a love triangle with two hot guys. Nico, the sweet former vampire / boy next door type who wants to protect her and who is good for her in an easy relationship sort of way. And Damian, the vampire who set her life on a new path against her will. She wants to blame him, hate him even, but there’s no denying the passion between them. Damian and Aria would be anything but easy, so Team Damian! Now throw in a shocking reveal, some lost family members, bigger and badder witch hunters, a relentless coven, a possible traitor, three creepy royal vampires who are more than likely up to no good with their own agenda, and an ending that makes you say, “Oh yeah, it’s about to be game on now b****es”, and you’ve got a great sequel. I can’t wait for book three. Well done, Ms. DeRosa.
Aria died in the last book. Dead. Gone. No longer living. Should be the end of the story, right? Not a chance. Not when she was force fed vampire blood by the vampire she can never quite decide if she loves or hates. Being a blood sucker isn't what she wanted. She'd rather be dead. So being made one against her will destroys every ounce of trust she has for the one person who can help her with what she's going through. She craves blood and can't seem to control herself, putting her human friends in danger at every turn. Then there are the witches who are after her and the fact that the one person who may be able to help her is the mortal enemy of the boy she's beginning to love. It's a mess.
The characters are so real and there's none of the cheese that can be found in other vampire books. I'll be waiting anxiously for the next one.
I'm always wary of fantasy series that involve vampires and werewolves (blame Twilight), because I'm afraid that the story will be inundated with cliches and tropes. The Hybrid Trilogy, I'm happy to say, contains none of that.
Poor Aria. Mortally wounded by the demon-monster sent to destroy her, she wakes up to discover that she has been turned into a vampire in order to save her life. Now she has to watch her blood-cravings around her friends, and is fighting a serious bout of depression, bordering on suicidal. It's so much for her to deal with, and she has the weight of the world on her shoulders.
GK DeRosa expertly weaves a complex tale in Immortal Magic, seamlessly blending different fantasy genres into one magnificent story. I'm engrossed in this series, and I can't wait for the next part.
I got an ARC copy of this book, I mean I was to the author,
me, me, me, me, me, me
yup, I totally fanned girled to the author.
Like I do not want to wait for the second book I want to read it now!!!!
Obviously, she sends me one and I wasn't disappointed.
I love a strong female character. Yes, we do need more kick-ass heroines in books because it is not fun to read about women that are hopeless.
This book is bloody awesome if you have read the first the second one doesn't disappoint.
I love Aria that she doesn't give up and does anything in her power to be strong and independent. I have to say one thing, she needs to be with Damian not with Nico. Yes, my alliances are obvious.
Read it! I won't go into detail cause I do not want to spoil this awesome book.
Action jumps on every page, and the plot twists made it impossible to put down. There’s one HUGE surprise I wasn’t expecting going into this series (it has to do with Aria’s family) and I absolutely love it! As the story progresses, the tension between Aria and Damian magnifies even though she’s dating Nico (I still love Nico, but I’m team Damian). An unexpected guest appears (literally) at the end, and I’ve got a feeling some major trouble is coming. I’m already counting down the days until book three comes out!
