This is the best 3D disk I own. (Beware: I'm not a CD/DVD/Blu-ray buff and my collection is small, for now.) But amongst the 3D Blu-Rays I have, this one stands out! The 3D is done JUST RiGHT, making things pop with a quality that I don't see in any of my other 3D Blu-Rays... It's BEAUTIFUL! 3D pops out of the screen with clarity and resolution that is AMAZING! Images are SHARP, BRIGHT, well balanced, 3D is beautifully applied to each scene as all other 3D disks out there should be, but are not (most of the time there are quite a few scenes in other 3D disks that totally look regular 2D instead of 3D (e.g. Tron Legacy, Blade Runner 2049, etc.)) You will NOT be disappointed with your purchase (If you like the film to begin with).
P.S. As usual, I find that ALL 3D disks need to go through a process of calibration (adjusting the settings of your TV to allow for the best viewing image). This disk is no different, and this is ESPECIALLY true for this disk, because 3D is so "deep" that you may need to adjust your "3D depth" until all things focus in place. It took me a couple of minutes to adjust the 3D settings just right in my Sharp, 65" Quattron... But once that was done, I was like, WOW!

A fabulous art project, who was their art director, Rembrandt? The use of chiaroscuro is breathtaking. However, a movie cannot stand on art alone; it's a medium that requires a story. (I do wish filmmakers would stop pouring all their funds into the look of a movie, leaving a nickel leftover for the screenplay.) The story is simple and to the point: a bad guy wants a magical bow, said bow in easily found and just as quickly lost to the bad guy who uses the aforementioned bow to release a cage full of crazy little Titans. A brawl ensues, the end.
Okay, a few other hardly worth mentioning things happen in between, but you get the picture (literally). The story was as bare bones as it gets. There was no depth, no delving into any aspect of the story, none of the relationships were examined; everything was treated as a set piece. This was a magical place populated by stick figures made to order. Few of the actors stood out, which can easily be blamed on the lack of light. While it is commendable that the filmmakers stayed true to the light sources of the day (candles, oil lamps, and campfires), this method did not make for easy viewing. Of the cast, only Mickey Rourke left a lasting impression, everyone else's work was cursory at best, and as such easily forgettable. The problem with this movie is that it lacks heart and soul. It's grim and gruesome and reeks of indifference.

This an excellent movie if you are a fan of mythology or any of the previous movies about it. Neither my wife or I are fans of Mickey Rourke and yet we both enjoyed this movie a lot. What I really like about this film is its depiction of the separation of power between, men, gods and Zeus himself. The action is non-stop and there is no confusion or gray area between the good guys and the bad guys. This film also addresses the age old question that always comes up during wartime: At what point is negotiation no longer an acceptable recourse. Another point which this film addresses is two people born into the same circumstances can still chose different roads in life. Even if you do not like mythology at all, but you are a fan of action movies. You will want to make this a part of your collection. Henry Cavill keeps showing up on my movie list, 2002 The Count of Monte Crisco, 2012 The Cold Light od Day, 2013 Superman and he has two more future projects that I hope to see (2015 The Man From UNCLE & 2016 Batman v. Superman). Frieda Pinto also does a good job and is a rising star having also appeared in Slumdog Millionaire and Rise of the Planet of the Apes. As well as several other role players that do an a very good job in their roles.

I feel i have to add something here as the negative reviews are all a bit harsh.. Especially since most of them are due to a few seconds being cut (who cares.. your putting people off a really great film!!). i mean 300 has gone on to become pretty iconic and for all it's sins has almost gained 'modern classic' status, certainly a cult classic! so why all the negative reviews for The Immortals? i don't get it.. this film has waaayyy more story, loads more scenes with variety, much better acting, it's full of thrills and great cgi! what else could you want from a film of this genre.. plus it's in a different league to that clash of the titans remake!
To be honest the only reason i watched this is because of the super cheap price this has dropped to, otherwise i'd have totally missed out on this amazing film! Anybody looking at this really needs to click buy and check it out for yourself!!

Setting aside the myths (as there are MANY different versions of each) and concentrating on this story line, this movie was pretty awesome. The action was spot on; lots of blood and gory moments. The story itself was well thought out. I thought the acting was decent, not terrible at all. Over all, this movie deserves 5 stars for me. Enough that I wanted it for my collection. So, if you're into fantasy and wicked cool fighting. I'd certainly recommend this movie to you

SUBLIME !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Divine Intervention
Reviewed in Germany on November 24, 2011
    (Kinoversion)

Was natürlich vorrangig an den unzähligen, herrlich anzusehenden, durchtrainierten, halbnackten, manchmal fast ganz nackten Kriegern liegt.
