The molds are very easy to use: Insert the shape in the mold, pack with rice, turn over onto plate, voila. Each shape is approximately 2 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep. For the price you can hardly go wrong. These are lots of fun, especially if you have children (I bought them for myself, I guess I am still a child at heart).
Either way - I am a big fan of making food fun for my kids. It seems to make them more adventurous in trying new foods. If you want to find similar kid food accessories then do a "bento" or "bento box" search on Amazon or Google. You'll get lots of ideas.
I've tried making rice balls by hand as I've seen in the Japanese TVs, but most of times the rice is too hot and sticky, making every experience a little complicated. But now with this little helper, making rice balls is so much easier and fast.
This mode is quite small. I can pack 6 or so in a 13 oz bento lunch box. Probably about 1 cup of sushi rice from rice cooker. I've also tried making bear eyes and noses by cutting seaweed sheet. They look adorable. Would recommend it.
