It actually tried to rip my tough thumbnail off trying to get the blade out. I oiled it and wrapped a piece of leather around the blade and sat and watched TV while I worked the blade back and forth to try to loosen it up a bit. Nothing after 45 minutes, still hard as heck to open. This is NOT how a knife should be. My grandfather and my dad both have Case knives that do cost more but both are about the same size and easy to open and just as well made if not better. I was trying to get off cheap with this knife but I'm going to return it and get a Case.
It is good looking and functional and I like the fact that it has three blades so you can use one for the rough work and save the others to have a nice sharp edge when you need it.
The knife has very strong springs so the blades are a pretty hard to pull out, but once they are out they swing and click very firmly in their open position; there is no play from side to side or any other kind. I guess it is difficult to ask for a firm blade lock and tight tolerances and have an easy blade pull as well. I am hoping that maybe they will break in with time, I will also try to see if I can help them with some oil.
Anyway, you need to be aware that you have to have tough nails to be able to use this knife.
The long blade has a nice shape and a decent size for most jobs, and, although smaller, the other two blades inspire the same trust that you can use them for pretty much anything you need within reason.
Overall I like this knife and will use it at more formal occasions.
the bottom corners of the blade (the tang?) don’t fit smoothly into the handle. they stick out and get caught sometimes when i go to slip it in my pocket.
A friend recommended me this knife for him to start with and for the money I am very happy with the purchase. I'm not very experience with pocket knives but from what I can tell this is pretty good.
If you are looking for a good priced pocket knife I think this fits the need!
