Format: Audio CD
Jaki Byard was a versatile jazz pianist who could be comfortable with varied sub-genres. When this recording was made, Ran Blake was his colleage at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Blake is known for his use of the "Third Stream" style.
Improvisations is interesting since it unites the eclectic Byard with the dramatic Blake. The rendition of "On Green Dolphin Street" is super, and their co-written compositions are equally swell to hear.
