I am about to order my second one for my daughter for this year! I love it and have recommended it to others.
- Snaps make it easy to remove*
- Little ruffle is cute
- Practical - reusable swim diaper
- Not a disposable swim diaper**
What you may not like:
- Not leak proof. If baby is playing outside the water, then this will only hold in messy pants. If I have an experience of out of the water pee, I'll update if that happens. It might contain a litle pee because when I get out of the pool, the bottom has some water captured inside - but easy to squeeze out. Even if this Imse bottom holds in the pee, there is nothing to soak it up so the pee is going to get on SOMETHING.
- If you get a messy pant, then you've got to clean it up. If you don't use cloth diapers (and I don't), then this is something "new". This is applicable to all reusable swim diapers.
iPlay elastic waist/leg swim bottoms: I don't like that there isn't a matching top. I usually put the bottoms on under a regular bathing suit, but then a funny pattern sticks out. Does absolutely nothing to hold in pee. Like a funnel.
iPlay full suit: Exceptionally difficult to put on.
iPlay with snaps - I purchased an iPlay white swim diaper with snaps. It is still a little big, so I have only used it once and it has a similar feature as this Imse bottom - easy off with the snaps. I also like that I can put a white swim diaper under any bathing suit and not have a pattern clash.
* If the bottom is dry, it is easy to slip on with snaps already done up
** I want to avoid disposable swim diapers.
We have used this swim diaper at least a dozen times now, and it is snug fitting, and easy to get off and on. My child has never had a bowel movement while wearing it, so I can't say for sure how works, but the fit is fantastic, leading me to believe it would keep messes in effectively.
The only con for me is that they are pretty expensive and hard to find in the US. Because of this, I tried a couple other brands, including iplay and Charlie banana, and neither fit as well as the Imse Vimse, even as my daughter is much larger at 13 months.
So we are back on Amazon, looking for a larger size and willing to pay a premium for a quality European product.
We took two of these and one of the velcro kind to Mexico for a weeklong beach vacation, after using these diapers for swim lessons for a year. We had never had poop in one until the vacation, but were relatively pleased with how it dealt---the poop stayed in the diaper until she was out of the water, and even when she started running away from us (of course---she did not want to be changed) it was mostly contained. A tighter fit (our daughter was on the borderline between sizes) might have solved that problem, and then they'd be perfect.

A gift for someone. They requested them so I assume they have worked well. I heard no complaints.Published 18 months ago by Karen Ski
Keep in mind these things only hold in solids, not liquids, they do their job well, and are pretty adorable.Published on May 28, 2014 by RG Interests

This is *not* a water-tight diaper for babies. I put my infant son in it and he peed right away, before swimming in the pool. Read morePublished on November 3, 2013 by Magstown
So far so good. I like the side snaps which make it really easy to put on or take off. I can't say anything about how well it contains, because we EC our baby (offer the potty)... Read morePublished on September 30, 2013 by kerstin.k21
