I love this song. It reminds me of my grandparents. I love his voice and the lyrics of this song. If you've never listened to Jamey Johnson then this is the song you need to start you out on his music.

I used this song for a video presentation I made for a WW 2 Veteran's Birthday Party [90] where many family and friends came to honor him since it fit his situation so closely it was almost like it was about him.

It was the first time I had heard the song and once I did hear it I knew that was the one I would build the presentation around and it was well received. I just copied [All Black and White] photos in chronological order and applied them to the key parts of the song about being young, working on a cotton farm in the depression, being in the military in the South Pacific during WW 2 and getting married after it all.. Then I filled in the the rest after the song was over with ''Color Pictures'' of his life with his wife, kids and many family and friends along the way to the present.

Closed it with a picture of him pointing to his name on a monument as one who served in WW 2 from that county in Texas as an old veteran.

Everyone wanted to know the song name and artist so they could go out and buy a copy to remind them of the day and their ''Grand Pa' " as well as his children remembering their ''Dad'' too. I've even become attached to it and listen to ''Jamey Johnson" in other recordings as well now.

I'm glad that song was available for download as a single.

With having two grandfather's in WWII and my paternal grandparents being married until my grandfather passed, I really feel I can relate to this song. I like Johnson's songs and his voice. Reminds me of older country music, unlike the mainstream crap you hear on the radio now.

This is one of my top five favorite songs ever written. I'm in my late 30's and, for some reason, I thought life before me was really in black and white. I also thought that dogs were boys and cats were girls. The innocents of youth. I now consider myself a old soul and really enjoy storytelling of the days past. Anyway, this song touches me on different levels.

I don't know much about Jamey Johnson's other music, but this is one of my favorite songs.

This is the only song that I can remember being in my dreams. I dreamed that I was an Army Pilot back in WWII with this song playing in the background.

This song was my cell phone ringtone for my father because he was born in 1924 as was the "Grandpa"n the song and he also fought in WWII.... He went through the depression working the grape vineyards instead of the cotton farm, but the song just fit him perfectly. I love this song.
