Hot water instantly? How does that work?
It’s actually pretty simple. Water comes up from your supply line into our specially designed hot water tank, where it’s heated to 200°F. As the water is used, more water replaces it in the tank. With a fast recovery system, the hot water tank can deliver up to 60 cups of near boiling-water an hour. All of our instant hot water dispensers fit a standard 1.5-inch hole on the sink or the countertop and require a grounded electrical outlet under the sink. The Hot Water Tank features tool-free connections to ease installation, and includes dry-start protection for peace of mind. Please refer to your product’s Instruction Care and Use manual for details and tools required for installation.

The instant hot water dispenser has become a favorite among homeowners because it not only speeds up the preparation of meals and hot beverages, but its low energy consumption also saves money. Instant hot water dispensers also save water because you never have to wait for the water to “heat up. ” Studies have shown that using an instant hot water dispenser to provide near-boiling water can save up to 80% of the energy normally required to heat water to 200°F.
What’s in the Box
The Invite Contour dispenser comes with a mounting plate, trim ring, wing nut, flat gasket, screws, 2/3 gallon hot water tank and installation instructions.

This should have been an easy installation, but when I went to install the new unit I found that the new mounting screw wouldn't fit in the hole for the old unit. They know many of these go in as replacement units. Why would it to be so hard to make sure it fit in the same mounting hole as the old unit. There wasn't any reason for the change, just lack of attention.
About the time I got that problem fixed, I found that the copper line supplied for the incoming cold water was about 7 inches shorter than on the old heater. That necessitated a trip to the hardware store for a new quarter inch inline connector.
I expected better. Minor issues, but it made what should have been a 15 minute job into one that took a couple of hours to complete.
unit September 16, 2013. Each time I have to pay a plumbing contractor to install these units, due unit leaking water. These
units only have a 3 year warranty given with new purchases.
When I noticed the unit leaking this month I contacted the manufacturer's customer service. I had to phone 3 times and each
time the customer service person was not knowledgeable regarding their product and their speech was very difficult to understand. I thought maybe this manufacturer had out sourced their customer service to a foreign country. Finally on the 3rd phone call I was offered a "promo Code discount" if I would check their website. I went to their website and 3 or 4 different companies popped up, one of which was Amazon. Amazon being the cheapest I tried the "promo code" several times, it did not work on Amazon and their sites shown would not accept the "promo code" either. I phoned the manufacturer again and got the run around with their poor customer service. I finally hung up and ordered the unit on Amazon, which came with free shipping, as I am a prime member of Amazon.
The inventors/designers/manufacturers need to return to the drawing board and come up with a better designed unit and warranty.
I would have purchased a different unit, except the fact of retrofitting and additional labor to install a different manufactured unit, would have made the costs/labor much more.
My advice is if you have a InSinkErator and it goes bad, if you can afford it purchase a different product or just forget it and live
without instant hot water on your sink...........................and believe me I thought about just that.........
This review is for the model SST, called 'Invite Contour'. You do need a 1/4" fitting on your cold water pipe for the SST to hook into, and an outlet for power. Upon opening the box, tank is compact & has a simple temp knob on front. The faucet had good chrome plate, it was pre-assembled with the three tubes (and to avoid mixup, all were different sizes to make the hookup idiot-proof). First, screw the tank under sink within about 16" of the faucet. Installation involved dropping a plastic trim-ring onto the faucet, thread tubes through hole in sink and tighten a mounting screw -whoa, that plastic trim ring just broke! Its not metal, but plastic! Well, it was only there for looks, so go on, hook up the water lines (each a different size to go on just one tank fitting), and open the cold water supply. Test it, and when the faucet flows smoothly, go back under and plug it into your 120V outlet.
This tank was factory set at 200F, so it should heat immediately- and mine did. It made some 'gurgle' sounds like a teakettle on the boil, and adjusting the temp does not change that. The company Answerline is an -800 number, and the nice lady said the noise is normal. So, about every half-hour (even when we are not drawing water from it), we hear the unit gurgle and thump, before subsiding again.
Will add to review after a year of experience.
