The Buddy FlamingoMic will revolutionize the use of Dragon software for professionals using portable computers. It has the accuracy of the headset microphone with the convenience of an internal mic. It's what we've been waiting for...we just didn't know it.
Based on my experience, the most common, single reason individuals have a difficult time maintaining the transition from typing [or traditional transcription] to Dragon, is the headset microphone. A headset mic is uncomfortable, a pain in the neck to put on and off, and probably the most common complaint --people feel silly wearing it. The FlamingoMic plugs into the USB port and easily coils up neatly against your computer for portability and easily extends for dictation. Oh yes, and you have both your hands free to use the mouse or keyboard, flip through papers, hold your cup of coffee --what every it is that you like to do with your free hands.
I have personally been using the FlamingoMic for over a month now. I absolutely love it!
My very best, Dana

It's USB Plug & Play so was very quick and easy to use. I plan on using this on my other laptop as well because more and more I find myself using Google Chat or Skype rather than my phone. It's great because it is flexible, so I can adjust the microphone position depending on where I'm using it. It also came with a free carrying bag and a replacement windsock.
I am very satisfied with this purchase. I highly recommend this microphone to anybody considering a replacement to their notebook's on-board mic. This is well worth the price.
I saw this microphone and thought the form factor would be perfect for my laptop. Since it's very flexible, I can comfortably lean back at my desk and speak into the mic.
After my first online meeting, my colleagues immediately pointed out the difference in audio quality. Like night and day, they said. No longer was the office fan or a/c causing interference. I guess the noise cancellation is legitimate.
All this got me wondering why there was such a difference in quality between my FlamingoMic and my traditional laptop microphone. After some research (thanks, Google) I learned that the big difference is the type of microphone. My laptop features a traditional "omnidirectional" microphone whereas the Flamingo is a "unidirectional" microphone. Omnidirectional means that it captures all the sound in the room. Unidirectional microphones only pick up the noise from directly in front of the microphone, meaning all the annoying and distracting sounds coming from all over the office were no longer an issue.
To make a long story short: If you depend on online meetings, webinars, etc. to conduct business, the built-in laptop microphone just won't cut it. You need to go with an external microphone. In my case, I couldn't be happier with my FlamingoMic. For once when these people say "high quality", they mean it. Buddy FlamingoMic 7G
Without it, I could not possibly function the way I feel I must in my field of medicine.
Repeating back patient information/findings directly into the computer at the moment of contact in the patient's room is critical to me.
I also require the entry of a large numbers of medications and dosing schedules accurately and rapidly.
I have been a DragonDictate user since 1999.
Having spent over $7200 on a pair of state-of-the-art Motion Computing tablet computers at the end of 2010,
I anticipated a tremendous improvement and expected to be able to dictate in front of my patients as I walked from room to room.
Instead, I experienced 3-1/2 months of extraordinary frustration with the "onboard" microphones.
The Buddy Flamingo microphone 6G that I started using in March 2011 worked better than I ever could have imagined.
The 7G microphone is much better.
I like to carry my computer tablet under my arm like a notebook.
I prefer the flat USB port [rather than the 90° model] which allows the 24 inch gooseneck to be coiled up [more like a Cobra than a Flamingo] flat against the computer tablet and out-of-the-way as I walk from room to room. It is easily tethered with a Velcro system along the left panel of the computer.
[I did not see a way to post pictures of how I do this for this review-but will do so if I am told how]
Without hesitation, I can truly say that the success of my practice is actually dependent on this remarkable device.
I look forward to future developments from this responsive company.

if you use Dragon and feel the official mic too expensive, this is a great alternative. The flexible neck is a great design. if it has a bluetooth function, even greater.Published 2 months ago by Amazon Tribe
Great mic, but highly sensitive, so not for use in noisy environments. I recommend using a USB extension cable as well.Published 4 months ago by E. E. Weinreb

Fairly good accuracy for microphone that is not a headset. The buddy flamingo is very convenient and innovative. One drawback is the short neck, only 15 inches. Read morePublished 13 months ago by Frank William
