This little card works great and did exactly what I needed it to do. It allowed me to bring my aging X58 i7 Linux server up to snuff by adding much needed 3.0 support. Mint17.2 picked it right up at boot and the device has, thus far, performed without any issues. I used a command line tool to measure transfer speed and was able to clock at or about the same 170MB/s another reviewer cited. This made the card well worth the cash I shelled out for it. Sure, it's not as snappy as onboard 3.0 speeds but it beats what I had going on that board before. The design is slick and the unit is well made, the red PCB and black steel give the unit an especially well-polished appearance. The five rear ports were a definite plus as many of the other manufacturers only added two or three.

While it does not explicitly state it, the implication is that it supports the 20 pin header type connector, this is not the case. If you have 3.0 ports on your front panel with a 20-pin header cable you will need an adapter as the connection on the card is two Type A female connections. I found a cable which worked quite nicely for about $7 shipped. (Search: Gino 6.3" Blue USB 3.0 A Male to Male 20 Pin Header Slot Adapter Cable) Not a big deal, just make sure you get everything you need. Minus one star for not including an adapter for 20 pin header cables, other than that the product is exactly what I was looking for.

I needed more USB ports for my Oculus Rift CV1. I bought a cheaper one that plugged directly into my motherboard port, but apparently it didn't have enough power to work, or some other issue. This one was my second purchase and it worked well. On the other hand, I am enjoying my Vive MUCH more than the Oculus.

[From Original Review]
I bought this because the Oculus Rift's tracking sensor was not compatible with the USB 3.0 ports on my "vintage" 2011 computer and it was the recommended device from Oculus.

[Edited]
After seeing my original review, Inateck sent a replacement card, which I received in less than a week from the posting of the review. I installed it in my computer yesterday and I have not run into any of the problems with the original card, so it appears I initially received a defective unit.

One item I forgot to mention in my original review is that it takes a few moments to initialize after the log in prompt is displayed. Because I didn't want to wait, I moved my mouse and keyboard to USB ports connected to the motherboard. This way I can log in as soon as Windows 10 is ready. I can see this still occurs with the new card, by watching the lights on my Saitek X52 pro.

[From Original Review]
After installing it, and the drivers from Inateck, my computer would periodically freeze and restart. Also, the Oculus Rift itself would periodically become disconnected from the computer. Since removing this USB 3.0 card and connecting the Rift to the USB 3.0 ports on my ASRock motherboard and the tracking sensor to the motherboard's USB 2.0 ports, all of these problems have disappeared.

I bought this in for my Oculus Rift when it arrives...I ran the program that tells you if your system is ready or not and it said I needed USB 3.0 ports, so I bought this and it was very inexpensive and fit right in my computer case...works perfectly.

When you pay your money, and go through the process of installing you EXPECT the product to work and work flawlessly. This is not the case with me. I installed this product, installed the driver and it appeared to be working without a problem until I put my Netgear 1200 adapter in one of its USB. The internet keeps freezing and knocks the adapter on and off. I take it out of one of Inateck's USB and place it in one my computers front panel USB, it works without a problem. I plug it back into one of Inateck's USB, back to the same problem in ten minutes. And once I try to shut down my computer with this product installed, the computer freezes on the shutdown screen. I am afraid this product may damage my computer like others have reviewed and I am most definitely returning.

I like this product because it works great in my workstation and delivers blazing fast USB 3.0 performance.

My only complaint, and the reason I didn't give it five stars, is that it requires a driver. I definitely expected it to be plug-and-play - automatically detected and installed by my Windows 7 operating system. Maybe it works that way with Windows 8, but I had to download a driver from the manufacturer's website to get it work.

That said, once the driver was installed, it has been working perfectly and is VERY fast. I love that they didn't waste any space, packing as many ports into the rear panel as they could fit, and the two internal ports are an added bonus. You could connect them to your desktop tower's front-panel USB ports if you were so inclined (though I didn't - I'm using a desktop USB 3.0 hub instead).

My desktop machine didn't come with USB 3.0 ports, so this expansion card is a welcome upgrade. I *love* how fast USB 3.0 is, and have been upgrading all my devices to USB 3.0 since I got this product.

Overall, this is a good product for the money. Just be prepared to download and install a driver to get it working on your machine after you have it physically installed.
