PRAISE FOR INBOUND CONTENT
"Justin is a rare find and reminds many of us of their favorite professor in college. His storytelling skill makes learning a joy, and he's translated his in-the-classroom energy, passion, and personal experiences into an easy and truly helpful read." BRIAN HALLIGAN, co-founder and CEO of HubSpot
"Changes to everything from major search algorithms to the rise of off-site publishing have significantly shifted content strategy in recent years. This book is a sorely needed and refreshingly actionable update to the content playbook upon which so many businesses have been built." MEGHAN KEANEY ANDERSON, VP of Content, HubSpot
"Content marketing has come a long way since I started writing the very first book on the subject way back in 2003 (about a century ago in Internet years). While the overall strategy of creating valuable information to educate and inform buyers and grow business hasn't changed since then, the tactics have become increasingly complicated. Fortunately we now have Justin's guide to learn the basics on getting started right away with a content program for your business." DAVID MEERMAN SCOTT, marketing strategist, entrepreneur, HubSpot Advisory Board member, and bestselling author of ten books including The New Rules of Marketing and PR
"Justin Champion's new book is a comprehensive overview of content marketing and a much-needed gift to a field short on actionable guidance that both teaches and inspires. Through engaging storytelling he arms his readers with frameworks and exercises, illustrated with real-life examples. Justin's passion for the subject is contagious and with this book he empowers marketers to deliver on the promises of content marketing." ANKE AUDENAERT, digital marketing nanodegree lead at Udacity and adjunct professor of marketing at the UCLA Anderson School of Management

I was wrong. I love this book.
In the online course, the video content and the workbook are two separate things, and you have to switch between them. In the book, the the instruction and activities are unified into a single resource.
This is a must-have reference for anyone who wants to improve their company's online presence. There are helpful headings throughout, along with a glossary and an index at the end, so you'll always be able to find exactly what you're looking for. As a quick reference, the book beats the online content hands down.
I am so glad Justin created this resource. I hope someday that every serious marketing organization has multiple copies of it in the office for their team members to reference. It's that good.

The advent of the internet began a revolution in how a business connects with customers. Prior to the digital age, marketing followed an outbound model - information, expertise and knowledge of product and marketplace was concentrated within the company and had to be pushed to the public via advertising and sales reps. In our fast changing times this model has largely been turned on its head. The majority of prospects arrive via an inbound path, from customers who are already educated about their needs and options, and who have filtered out your competitors and chosen your product or service. They are very often unknown to you until the point of purchase.
These inbound customers arrive not by magic, but through the knowledge and skill you have employed in creating your online content - content that gets noticed and brings you the inbound traffic. Content is all, and the effectiveness of it makes the difference between sink or swim for a business.
This excellent book gives the guidance and reassurance needed for you to keep your head above the water in these challenging and changeable times. It's highly relatable, and full of anecdote and examples. My one complaint is the quality of some of the graphics: at times they are small, dark and poorly printed. I assume they're lifted from the HubSpot web site, but some of them don't translate well to monochrome print. However, the reader is given a great deal of practical, actionable advice from basic things like writing effective copy to the creation and implementation of long term strategy. Some of the advice might appear basic, but I see countless examples every single day of sellers failing to heed even these supposedly basic principals. And that potentially gives you the edge, because you're already here, considering buying this book. All you need to do now is read it and beat your competition to the customers! This is one book in a series of three. I recommend them all.
However....there's not an awful lot in here that I haven't already read at some point on the Hubspot website itself, presumably for which this same content was purpose-designed; in fact it's much easier to access online, especially as lots of digital references are included. The translation from big screen to small page has not been a happy one. The book contains many screenshots which are illegible or which can only be viewed under a microscope (see below), and has been printed on thin paper which doesn't feel particularly nice to touch. The front cover is uninspiring, and all marketers know how important good product packaging is to help customers differentiate in a crowded marketplace.
Although the content of this book is irrefutably definitive, there is a certain amount of irony that this is a book about repurposing content which is itself repurposed content, only which hasn't been done as well as the original.
