COMPARED TO CLOTHSPINS
> Clothspins have a flat 3/8" x 3/8" surface, and do a good job of clamping soft flat materials, such as paper, fabrics, etc---such for gluing---up to about 1/8" thick total.
--These metal clamps have no flat surface, and so are not effective in clamping soft materials
--Wide-mouth plastic clamps such as TEKTON 3901 Mini Spring Clamps Set, 10-Piece have hinged pads and (depending on the size of the clamp) can clamp any thickness
> Clothspins open to about 3/8"
--These metal clamps open to about 1/2", but are not really effective for most items more than 3/8"
> Clothspins can clamp to a rod or cord up to about 3/8" and can be forced to about 1/2"
--These metal clamps really don't clamp to a rod or cord well.
These are about the thinnest metal, thinnest plastic grip covering, and overall cheapest construction possible. In short, NOT impressive. But are a good deal for the price, and are probably more than adequate for many light applications.
I was looking for clamps to clamp plant screen fabric to 1/2" poles out-of-doors. Clothspins can be forced to do so. 2" "Wide-mouth plastic clamps" work great, but the springs are thin wire which rust quickly and fail. These metal clamps are parallel at their maximum 1/2" openning, and do not hold well to 1/2" poles---so they didn't work for me. If the maximum opening had been 5/8" or 3/4" they probably would have worked well for me.
> Consider "wide-mouth plastic clamps" such as TEKTON 3901 Mini Spring Clamps Set, 10-Piece, for most uses, they work much better.
> HTS 104S1 100pc Metal Spring Clamp appear to be a heavier-duty version of these 2" metal spring clips.
> Clover Wonder Clips, 50 Per Pack look like they would be better for sewing and some other uses.

Luckily, they actually multitask in more ways than you’d think. They’re great for holding smaller objects like poster boards, wood sticks, or various crafting projects in place when they’ve been glued together as they open a little less than an inch wide. They’re also good for hanging delicate articles of clothing to dry because their grips don’t leave rust marks or tear through the fabric. I even use a couple of them for clipping snack and coffee bags around the kitchen. It’s an awesome purchase at its price point because of all the different uses you can get out of them.
I did open the package and try one out. The jaws open to 3/4" at the very end so they will only clamp onto something about 1/2" thick (maybe 5/8). The anti-mar rubber slipped off the jaws the first time out.
1 star for dishonesty from the seller. If you need chip clips, these might work but you might as well buy some binder clips. I'll say 2 stars for the product itself.
It is true they are tiny but they were exactly what I needed. Docked 1 star for misleading name covered by other reviewers. I used them to clamp together delaminated carbon fiber plate that I am repairing with epoxy. Plenty of strength for their size.
I ordered this offering and received it quickly. The clamps are what I'd call utility clamps, good for clipping the top of bags or holding something in place for hanging it up. The have good grip and last a good while. Some cheap plastic clips break or just wear out with use, these seem to last. I like them for 4 stars.
